the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The starter motor continues to run when the car is running on a 1999 Buick century

The Starter motor can keep running because of a number of things. It receives its power from the large contacts (switch) in the starter solenoid. WHen engaged, this starter sol. allows high current 12 volts to run the starter motor.
A number of things can cause the starter solenoid to stay engaged:
A) stuck starter solenoid mechanicals. probably not the cause
B) more likely a defective start position on the ignition switch in the ignition switch
C) possibly a gummed up ignition key tumbler
I would start troubleshooting with a schematic. Make your own or purchase a service manual. IF you pull off the wire from the switch (in the center console) which actuates the starter solenoid, and the starter motor continues to run, then its not the switch or the key tumbler. its the solenoid.
Troubleshooting is the logical process of elimination.

Is J000423 a legitimate serial number?

Hi Blaine:
Most VIN numbers are a lot longer than that.
It is possible that it is an engine serial number, but they are (or used to be) stamped into a flat spot on the block near the area where the bell housing bolts on.

I sure would NOT be thinking of purchasing a vehicle if that was the only number presented as proof of the identity of the vehicle.
Hope this helps.

I have a 2003 hyundai elantra and i need a replacement engine. the car was manfactured in Sept. 2002. the dealer ship say that this car may have one of two engines installed in it in that year but can not...

Think your dealer is mistaken. If the engine is stock, then the serial number of car should enable dealer to get the engine info. Try another dealer just to make sure. I NEVER trust those *(&^^^&(*)))&*^%^&(

Need to know the steps to repair window parts to connect back to motor and track. Where to buy plastic parts that broke.

Go to GM Parts Direct online and order both clips.

Part Numbers: 15938039 & 15938040

Both clips will work on front and rear doors. You'll need to order each part number (left and right) for each door.

Part number for electic motor t5hat turns odometer 1994 volvo 850 turbo

What you probably need are the two gears that actually sit inder that motor. Those are the usual culprits when your odometer fails. There are 2 and they are around $25 each and can be purchased from www.fcpgroton.com . Do them both or you'll be tearing your dash back apart to get the other one within 6 months of fixing the first one. The whole process takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete. Here's a good tutorial on it: http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/2005/01/01/interior-seats-dash-remotes-switches-odometer-fix-how-to/
