2004 Grand Am Cruise Control Not working

Had my car in to have the A/C repaired. An evaporator something or other had to be replaced and it cost me $1400.00 - but, that aside. I just noticed yesterday that my cruise control doesn't work and it did before the car went in the shop. When I press the ON/OFF switch, the light goes on but the buttton won't stay down. I tried holding the button down and presseing SET COAST but still it didn't work.

Is it possible they unhooked something when they were doing the A/C - they would have removed the dash to do it. Help!

No. The cruise control will not make the transmission slip. The best advice is to have the transmission checked, and repaired in needed.

The cruise control switches are located on the steering wheel. When the cruise control is turned on there will be a green light luminated on the dash that says "cruise". When at the desired speed press "set" to set the cruise control at that speed.

My Jeep Grand Loredo 2004 cruise control went out

Check the vacuum hoses it is easy to notice if one is missing or not. If that doesn't work, I'd try the cruise control switch. Hope this helps

Heater control stuckon defrost. The knob still works tho. You can turn it but it stays on defrost.

I had the same problem. I found a bad vacuum hose under the hood. I replaced it and everything was fine. This also effected my cruise control. The solution is really simple and didn't cost me anything. Car dealer wanted $649.00 to replace a blend air door, which involves taking out the dash. So check fuses and vacuum lines first. Worked for me.

Cruise control and horn does not work

Test and replace the clockspring. Everything you mentioned runs through it first before splitting off different paths to thier own components. It is behind the steering wheel. Remember to disconnect the battery first before making any repairs.

Cruise Control Issue

The most common solution is to replace the brake light switch . The switch has 3 sets of contacts one set is for the cruise control. If the cruise control part is at fault the cruise control will not engage. The switch typically costs from 10 to 15 dollars.

This works...the cruise is directly tied to the brake lights...when I replaced the brake and side light bulbs on my 2004 Santa Fe,,,the cruise started working with no other adjustments. It must complete a circuit or something.
