Your throttle bore is the hole opening at the begining of your intkae manifold, follow the large hoses from your air filter toward the engine, where the hose stops is the throttle bore. It should be about 3-4 inches in diameter, hope this helps, let me know

I have a 2002 bmw inline 6cyl, want to spray intake cleaner but cant reach the throttle body, can I spray directly into the tube after taking out air filter

Yes you can do that but rev the engine somewhat while doing it or it will stall out. Use only Throttle valve cleaner not carburetor spray, it will damage the special coating inside the throttle bore..

My 1995 dodge 2500 v10 Serges when idoling in drive. What causes this? And how do I fix this?

Possible minimum air flow problem due to a dirty throttle plate. Remove air hose from air filter housing to throttle bore and inspect bore and plate for dirty/coking. If bore and plate are black/gummed up, clean with intake cleaner until silver/shiney and retest

When at idle my chryler 300 when I start out will Rev up and down and give it more throttle straightens out

Possible dirty throttle plate disrupting minimum airflow. Remove air intake hose coming from air filter housing assembly to throttle bore and inspect throttle plate for being dirty/coked up. Throttle plate and bore should look clean/silver. If black/brown, use intake cleaner and old toothbrush to remove gum/varnish deposits and retest

2009 Camry 5 Speed Manual trans. Has a rough, low idle below 500 RPM whats the cause?

Clean the throttle body bore and plate of any carbon deposits. Also, clean and check the IAC idle air control circuit . If it has electronic controlled throttle body it will not have the IAC. Carbon deposits around the throttle body bore and plate (butterfly) can restrict airflow at idle causing the low uneven idle.

Audi 2.6 1998 convertible idle problem revs at 1500 even when warm & engine humps, had 2 mechanics look into it cant solve it. Does not happen all the time. This is not an automatic. Can you please help.

Perform Throttle Relearn' with scanner. If relearn shows 'Failed' or 'Not Completed', possible the throttle body is bad. Not unusual for early T/B to fail in this manner.

Do not return to those two mechanics. Any decent import or Audi mechanic will have seen this before. Sometimes cleaning the throttle bore and plate will resolve this problem. Your freindly local parts store ( FLAPS.) will have throttle body cleaner on the self and then all you need is an old tooth brush and some cloth.

Hello, the first thing you need to do is check the throttle body bore for carbon build up. pretty common to have the the throttle body build up carbon between the throttle bore and throttle plate causing some unstable idle problems. you can clean out the throttle body bore with some throttle body cleaner and a shop rag

IAC count is lower than expected cant pass emmissions

Hello, you probably have a trouble code P0506 stored in the system, this will keep from passing test. real simple fix. the throttle body is dirty, this will cause not enough air around the throttle body. simply clean out the inside of the throttle body around the throttle plate and bore. you will need to use throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner

1990 Ford Tauras 3.0l -throttle stickswide open

check the trottle cable for sticking by unhooking it from the throttle shaft and move through out the full movement there should be no sticking or binding.check the area around the gas pedal to make sure there is nothing that could have caused the problem.if there are okay then check the throttle bore and plate for dirt and binding by looking inside the throttle to see the plate and bore.move the throttle shaft through out the complete range and see if the shaft sticks or binds also checking the cleanliness of the throttle plate and bore.if its dirty clean it this may be all you need to do.if the shaft binds then clean the shaft area to see if it fixes the problem,if not then the throttle shaft may have to be repaired or the throttle body may need replacing,if its the cable then replace the cable.
