Since today i have a message alert check gas cap. I don't know why? The cap is good and well fixed. How to erase this message. Could it be an other problem than only cap? Fuel?

If the gas cap is on properly and the light is still on , then you need to replace it. the light means that there is gas vapor leaking from it

2002 grand cherokee, overland 4,7L engine doesnt

Hi Joko,

What you are describing is a failure of a main circuit. The first thing you should check is yo make sure that your battery is in good condition and that the cables are clean and tight. Let me know if yu find anything wrong there. Then there may be another main circuit problem. Check all of the fuses in your fuse block in the engine compartment. If any of these fuses are blown, it will usually cause several things to not work. If you find any fuses blown, DON'T REPLACE IT YET. Let me know WHICH fuse is blown and I can help you find out why it blew so you can get the problem fixed.

Get back to me on this and we will continue.

The engine light appeared in the message center; however, the vehicle seems to operate fine. This happened once before and no problem was identified, technician reset the light. The first occurrence was...

Try checking your gas cap for tightness. If it recurs, try to replace the gas cap and see if that corrects it. You can stop by most Autozone's for them to check the vehicles computer codes and on many occasions you'll find that "Check Engine Lights" are due to "Emissions" issues. And many of those can be attributed to loose gas caps.
Good luck, DWtsn

Gas cap causing computer check light to go on with a "check gas cap" message also have replaced gas cap how to reset computer?

need to have the vapor recovery system checked could also have a vapor hose that has a hole in it that could cause that same light to come on. As for getting the light reset unless you buy a obdii scanner you will have to find a shop to reset it for you.

Check engine light and check gas cap message is on in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 liter

Remove the cap and put it back on. Either the cap isn't tight, the cap isn't sealing properly or there is a leak in the tank or venting system. (start with the easy stuff first! Often the light won't go out till you have driven about twenty miles unless the computer codes are cleared with a scanner.

Moisture in truck, with check gas cap message on dash

The two are of course not related. Check the trunk seal for missing portion, tears, splits, etc. this has to be where the rain is coming in. You can check for leaks with a hose and climb in the trunk with a flashlight, having a trusty helper direct water to one area at a time to check for the leak. The gas cap light is probably on due to a defective evap. vent valve, which is located behind the left rear tire near fill tube for gas tank.
