Remote key I own a 2009 Malibu had to replace my remote key Jan 2012 at a certified chevrolet dealership.The new remote key worked great for a while. But now it locks the doors, opens the trunk it does not unlock the doors. The battery is brand new,It was replaced a month ago because I replaced the battery. Does anything have to be reset because I changed the battery?

Yes - Sometimes when the battery is replaced the key program can be corrupted. It would be a starting point to have the key reprogrammed just to eliminate it as a source of trouble.

There is a cable that runs from the key cylinder to the latch mechanism. There are clips that hold the cable housing in place, and if one of those comes loose then turning the key just moves the housing without releasing the latch. Check the clip closest to the latch. To get the trunk open drop the back seat, crawl in, and pull on the cable.

It is also possible that the cable is broken or damaged and needs to be replaced -- I assume you will then need to replace the enrite assembly.

You have a intermittent condition. To isolate the cause: 1.Disconnect the drivers door lock/unlock switch from the connector. Drive the vehicle and see if your random lock/unlock condition has stopped. If it has, replace the switch. If it hasn't:
2. You have a grounding problem or a problem in the BCM (Body Control Module) and should have a technician use a Tech 2 Diagnostic Link Tool to access the BCM computer to obtain any fault code data to help correct the condition.

If the remote s faulty then key fob will not get programmed.

Insert the key in ignition. Turn the key to on position, and cycle the key three times off-on-off-on-off-on. Then with the key fob remote select your remote and then try to operate the vehicle with remote.

These are just the basic procedure, but sometimes it will not help.

On that case dealer is the only option.

Otherwise May be keyfob needs to be reprogrammed.

What di I di if key won't come out of ignition of my 2012 Malibu?
Well, at least someone else is having the same problem! I have had this problem occur 4 times in the last month, and have reported it to the dealership. Naturally, they can\'t find anything wrong, and if they can\'t duplicate the problem they can\'t repair it! I complained so much about the their lack of concern, that the service manager called GM and they claim NO ONE else had ever reported the problem with the later model Malibu\'s. I mean, come on! My Cobalt had this occur numerous times and the dealership finally replaced the defective parts. Why can\'t GM admit they have an overall problem with their ignitions? Geez........

I am having problem with my door locks I have to use key to enter my alarm system is not working on key chain but once I enter I press lock open to let others in and the thing will not work
We had the same issue, changing the battery in the remote did not work, the rubber piece that you press to unlock was worn and no longer made contact, the remote will have to be replaced. They run about $80 each and have to be programed at the dealership.

My 05 Equinox drivers electronic door lock doesn't work with the remote only locks/unlocks with the key. All the other door locks work.
YOUR REMOTE BATTERY NEEDS REPLACING.TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP.THEY WILL REPLACE REMOTE ENTRY BATTERIES AND REPROGRAM THE DOOR LOCKS.
