2004 Cadillac Escalade Engine Stalling when idling in hot weather

I am having problems with my 2004 Cadiallac Escalade stalling in temperatures above 100 degrees if I spend time idling for periods of time like in stop and go traffic. I already replaced the fuel pump and it still stalls in high heat. The engine temp remains a normal 210 degrees on the guage. Also when it stalls I get a error on the dash that says "Service Stability." I keep trying to restart and it keeps stalling. Eventually after waiting a bit it will drive normally again as long as I don't let the truck idle while sitting still.

Electronics supply place sell a spray that cools to -60f.
there is a component or device overheating, and if you spray freeze spray on the suspected items, the stalling will go away until it heats up again.

Given your high guage temps of 210 degrees and high ambient temperature of 100 degrees, your engine's stalling can very likely be linked to either one of these three causes: 1) vapor lock; 2) percolation; or 3) PCV malfunction. Here's a really good diagnostic article that precisely addresses this issue of yours:

Hope this helps! Brad

F 150 2004 stauls during the winter-summer months no stauling

The stalling, if you are talking about when the engine is cold, is due to a failure of the "Cold start routine". Should this be the case, the defect is due to a temperature sensor failing to send a signal or the PCM failing to use the signal.

Now if this stalling is when the engine is warm in cold weather, it can be due to the ISC(idle speed control) solenoid. One reason the stalling is reduced in the Summer months is the A/C has an idle speed step-up which works when the A/C is used.

Another part which can cause stalling is the "Cam Phaser" in some Ford designs. The A/C step-up may mask this problem too. This is a problem in 2 camshaft motors. It requires more intensive inspection. Try the cheaper causes first. The Cam Phasers would be expensive.

The servicd writer suggests throttle control maintence every time I take my 2002 Escalade in for service. The car has 38000 miles on it, does it need that kind of service?

No service required unless the engine is idling to slow and stalling at red lights. This maintence is only requied on a as needed basis. Idle speed should be 550 to 650 rpm.

Seems you have a few problems, the irradic idle might be do to a bad idle air control valve/MAF, hard start issue i would need more info to help you better.

Engine coolant hot light came on in my cadillac 2006 cadillac Escalade

Check to see what temperature it is. If it is above 230 deg. F or so, then check to see if there is enough coolant in the system (wait until it cools).

Also, check to see if the fan turns on if it has an electric fan on the radiator.
