It is located where the air intake hose from the filter box connects to the engine.

SOURCE: Cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor

i will try to help. 171/174 indicates lean condition in engine. the mass air flow sensor is located in the rubber tube going to throttlebody. you can try to clean it. using mild carb cleaner safe for sensors, remove sensor from tube. spray clean the tiny wires located in the cylinder. do not touch them, they are very delicate. these engines are also notorious for leaking intake gaskets and faulty pcv valves. these will all set these 2 codes. feel free with anymore questions.

SOURCE: mass air meter not reading vane postion

hey rob_andersen,

yes their is a way to replace the mass air flow. Get a can of brake clean or throttle cleaner, throttle cleaner is going to work best. remove the until and spray it down with throttle clean, let it dry for about 15 min. and reinstall it.

Now a little warning for you, IF their is no visual damage to the mass air flow then you can do this successfully. Now the reason why I always replace them instead of spraying them down is because is MOST cases the mass air flow will start acting up again. Sometimes it takes a weeks, sometimes months, sometimes years its hard to say.

But the worst you have to loose, is it doenst work an your out 5 bucks for the can of fluid.

My 2009 Chevy Colbolt has a hard time starting but only when traction control light comes on. also when the traction control light is on shifting is rough and RPM meter stays at 0.

If there are no check engine light codes to read, here is my theory: I suspect you are having an issue with the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor is responsible for telling the computer how fast the engine is turning (RPM). If this sensor fails, the computer can substitute in an estimated value from the signal it receives from the camshaft position sensor as well as the value from the mass airflow sensor. However, since this is an estimate, and can’t fine tune the engine speed, it would be unable to precisely control the engine during a skid or spin situation, so the computer disables the traction control, turning the traction control light on. I would have the computer scanned for any codes and go from there. Sometimes there are codes stored, even though the check engine light is not on.

06 f250 5.4 code r107

Do you mean p0107 ? If so that is P0107 Ford - Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Sensor Low Input

Possible causes
- Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor
- Manifold Absolute Pressure harness is open or shorted
- Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) help.jpg What does this mean?
When is the code detected?
The ECM has detected a performance fault with the MAP sensor
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine rough idle
- Engine hesitation
P0107 Ford Description
The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor provides instantaneous manifold pressure information to the engine's Engine Control Module (ECM). The data is used to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn determines the required fuel metering for optimum combustion. A fuel-injected engine may alternately use a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor to detect the intake airflow.

Where is the mass airflow sensor on opel zafira 2.2

On the 2.2 zafira, z22se engine. There is no MAF sensor. Which is why you can not find it.
Instead it uses a combination of the IAT (Intake Air Temp) and the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensors. The IAT is the small plastic sensor on the side of the intake duct. The MAP sensor is just after the throttle body. You need to take the whole throttle body off to get at it.
