Question about 2002 Buick Century

3 Answers

Over heat I bought used Buick century 2002 in good condition, but I think, the temperture is not stable. For example, when I start it the temp. cage rase to the middle, it remains in the middle when I drive spically on the highways, but when I stop it the temp. cage rase more than the middle. Also, when I turn the air conditioning on, the fan works and the cage goes to the middle and below too. I asked the dealer, he said " it's normal if the cage doesn't go to the red place" Is that true? Do you have any solution?

If the gauge goes to the middle doesnt mean its overheatin or if its passed a bit the middle, check your coolant level if its low that can be contributing to unstable temp gauge, also plugged or dirty radiator, low engine oil level, defective radiator cap, defective thermostat or water pump, those things can cause a car to over heat , also if you're drivng do not turn on the ac instead turn on the heater that helps reduce it.

Check you coolant level and air in the lines which can cause it to overheat when stopped with or without the ac on or off
a collasped hose will determine air in the lines also a bad radiator cap that does not seal properly

Take it in for diagnosis.. .seems to me you don't know anything about vehicle maintenance... perhaps you need to replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system... not a bad idea.

I think the air conditioning went in my parents 2002 buick century. it blows warm air. can this be fixed?

yes it can be fixed..most likely it just low on charge..low charge will cause the a/c system to shut down since a low charge can cause damage to the system...just bring it to a qualified repair shop an have it charged an add leak dye...the dye will allow a tech to see if the a/c system has a leak in it

I have a 2002 Buick Century. When I am idling, the cooling fan does not kick on when it is supposed to. When I turn the A/C or the defrost on, the fan will come on. Is this a sensor problem? Where is...

THE COOLING FAN DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL 220 DEGREES IT SHOULD COME ON WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON OR DEFROST ON IF YOU THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM HAVE A SCANNER PUT ON IT AND IT WILL SHOW THE TEMP THAT THE FAN COME ON

I want to inspect the condition of the thermostat of 2002 Buick century, where is it, and what should I look for ?

Are you having a problem with overheating? Thermostats generally are either good or bad. not much in between. A visual inspection will tell you nothing. Replacement thermostats for this car are relatively cheap (<$15) but to replace it can be quite involved for someone that had not done this. I would suggest you take a drive to your local public library and chcek out a Chilton's or Motor's repair manual for your particular vehicle. BUT.... before doing all this, I have to ask why you think it needs inspection???

98 buick century , with auto climate control ,

is it HOT or just not as cold. If its HOT, like heated air, there is a door problem, if its just not cool, the a/c refridgerent is low and will need a recharge, most likely the comp is leaking.
