Timing belt in 2006 Aveo

My 2006 Aveo has a little over 18,000 K on the motor and it starting cutting out and was taken to the Chevolet dealer, and they say the timing belt is off three notches. Has anyone else heard of problems with the timing belt on the Aveo at low milage?

2006 Cadillac STS Cranks but no start Had the whole car rewired and still no start. Dealer said that there is not enough compression from engine.Don't have the money for a new engine. Any advice???

There are several things to look at and check for a no start situation. Did the dealer diagnose the wiring? to replace all of it? I would think that if all the wiring had to be replaced, it would have taken out some computers also. You have many on this car. If you don't have compression, it cold be timing. If the timing is good, then the rings are bad. This would cause major oil leaks. I would do my own compression test and check the timing belt/chain.

The pump is driven by the timing belt.
There are mounting bolts that hold the pump in place.

2005 chevy aveo was overfilled with oil at the last change. It was estimated to be around 1 1/2 to 2 quarts when then the car had a major issue 4 days after the oil change. According to my mom (who was...

too much oil can cause the crankshaft or camshaft to drag which can cause the timing belt to slip.
If you are lucky replace the timing belt and start it up. It will run badly and smoke a bit but will clear, hopefully nothing collided when the belt slipped.
The timing belt is something that any competent home mechanic can change, it just takes time.
Sorry to hear about another rip off dealer.

Im not getting gas to the head anymore

Aveo, the first thing i would do is to make sure the timing belt didnt break or jump, these cars are famous for that. you will need to remove the upper timing belt cover and take a look.if the belt is good then check the fuses first, you are not getting fuel to head. maybe a bad fuelpump, did you check and see if its getting spark to the sparkplugs. if theres spark and still no fuel then i would look at the pump, test and see if theres power going to the fuel pump when the engine is cranking, start with these tests. good luck.

Chevy Aveo 1.6 Engine, Timing Belt Broke, Replaced,Runs Rough?

Did you have the dealer change the belt because it broke ?
If this is the case they should know if it is an interfearance engine and if it is in fact an interference engine they should have checked the valves. If you had the belt changed just because you were scared it was going to break on you then I am sure the car ran fine when you took it in.
The explanation you gave sounds to me like they have the belt a tooth off and they need to re do it because the timing is out.
I hope this helps

2004 aveo timing belt broke, all valves bent

just go to any junk yard and find a used deawoo lanos and pull the head if timing belt was not broke, if it looks good, its a exact fit 100%, no special tools needed, just normal wrench set and torqe wrench. after head is installed, get a gates timing belt only.

Tune up

At 60,000 you should have all the major things done if you haven't already:
oil change(every 3000)
air filter change(every 15,000)
coolant flush(every 30,000)
spark plugs and wires(every 30,000)
transmission fluid & filter change(every 30,000)
brakes (as needed)
PCV valve (every 20,000)

You can wait until about 75000 miles to do your timing belt.

Hope this helps
