Are you just trying to figure out if it is belt or chain?  If so, I looked up the 6 cylinder on AutoZone.com and it is a belt.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ummmm woahhh hold up here...every 2.7 litre V6 i've been associated with had timing CHAINS. The chains ran the water pump and dual over head camshafts.
The 2.7l engine was manufactured by Mitsubishi for Chrysler and had an internal water pump with defective seals that allowed coolant to leak & mix with the oil causing severe sludging problems and eventual engine FAILURE...This has been a nightmare for Chrysler AND OWNERS !
MANY owners have contacted ISG Impartial Services Group 1-(866)332-3746 for a settlement with Chrysler
Attached is a cutaway view of the 2.7 litre, and as you can clearly see it is chain driven.
I've been a MOPAR enthusiast all my life...sadly, this engine was one of the worst to ever hit the streets.
Good luck Doug...i hope this helps.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A TIMING BELT AND NOT A CHAIN. THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 3-4 HOURS TO COMPLETE. NO SPECIAL TOOLS ARE NEEDED. I GUESS THE MOST DIFFICULT TASK IS LINING UP THE MARKS ON THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED.

How often should timing belts be replaced

Trick question. The 2.7L has a timing chain and not belt. 3.0L needs a new belt every 60,000 but some companies sell a kevlar/nitrile replacement that's supposed to be good for 100K. Do the water pump at the same time. 2.4L needs a belt at 60K.

My water pump broke,,but the timing chain is good...that mess the valves ???

No. A broken waterpump will not affect the valvetrain unless the vehicle has over heated. the pump can be replaced under normal conditions with no affect to the valves.

How do i change the water pump on a 97 chrysler sebring V6

Depending on the engine type this is a big job, the waterpump is driven by the timing belt and you must use caution as to engine damage may ocurr, if the timing gears are not 100% aligned when installing the timing belt heres a diagram to show you what im talking about,johnjohn2_39.jpgjohnjohn2_38.gifjohnjohn2_39.gif

How often do i replace the timing chain 1999 chrysler sebring lxi

The belt is supposed to last for 105,000 miles. These sebring cars are notorious for breaking timing belts well before then. If your car has over 80,000 on it I would schedule a timing belt change in the near future. Don't be surprized if you have to also change the water pump.

Need to now where timing marks are located on 1997 chrysler sebring coupe 2.5Ljust replaced waterpump & timing belt and car will not start I didnot turn crank or cams when rplacing belt

Hello carolnaes: My name is Roger and I will help. The picture of the timing marks are attached. I will caution though that Mitchell repair calls this a interference motor. Meaning if the engine turns over with the belt off. The valves of the engine can and may be damaged. I also checked All Data and they said it could possible cause valve damage. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger39f6dc5.jpg
