You need to raise the vehicle and start it. Remove the plug near where the passenger side driveshaft comes out. The head of the plug is 7/16. Trans fluid will stream out of the hole when the engine is running when the transmission is full, If fluid doesn't run out, fill the trans until fluid runs out. The fill cap is red and it is on top under and around the air cleaner box. If you need more help let me know.

Your welcome. Wasn't it a real good idea that General Motors came up with. How much does elimination of the dipstick really save. It sure is a pain.

Where do I check my transmission fluid in a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe 2.2L

The Pontiac Sunfire automatic transmissions are "sealed" and have no fluid dipstick. All they have is a plug in the transmission, and the fluid should be filled to the level of that plug. I've never liked that setup, but it is what it is. A mechanic can easily check the fluid level with the car on a lift.

How to check transmission fluid on 2001 pontiac sunfire

Pull the transmission dipstick out after the engine is warmed up and then wipe it off and put it back into the filler hole. Now pull it out again and check to see if the fluid level is at the "MIN" area on the metal stick. If it is level is too low, add ATF into the same hole where the stick goes into to raise your fluid level up. You may need to use a funnel so that you don't spill automatic transmission fluid everywhere.

How do I check the transmission fluid?

In an automatic transmission, the dipstick should be located around back of the engine. You let the engine run to normal operating temp. and you check the fluid level, add as needed. You add through the dipstick tube with a funnel. Hope this helps.

Where to check/put in transmission fluid in 2005 Pontiac Sunfire

I assume this is an automatic transmission, you didn't say.
There is no dip stick on the transmission any longer.
You will have to go under the car to check. You may want to go to your local instant oil change and have them check the level.
If you feel you want to check it, here is a description of the location and process.

Make certain the vehicle remains level while checking the fluid.
Located just above the top sealing flange of the transmission oil pan you will find a threaded plug. Remove the plug and see if transmission fluid drips out of the hole. If so, the fluid level is correct. If not, remove the red fill cap on top of the transmission, driver side. Add fluid to the transmission until fluid dribbles out of hole.
Replace and tighten the plug.
Good luck.
