My sister has a 2001 chevy malibu she keeps leaking power steering fluid already replaced the pump and both hoses what use can fix this proble?

Hello, I suggest you put a piece of cardboard under the engine area of the car and start the engine. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and than all the way to the right several times. Shut off the engine and look for any drips of oil on the cardboard. Any leaks should give you some idea as to where they are coming from.

1991 1.8 Fox Steering unusually stiff and squeek when wheel is turned. Alignment was adjusted today but the problem persists

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

The problem can be on the power steering pump itself. If the power steering pump is faulty, the power steering fluid does not circulate properly. One good reason why it squeaks when wheel is turned. Check the power steering belt too if they are not sloppy. If it is, adjust the pump to tighten the belt.

But before doing the power steering pump replacement, please do check the power steering fluid level. You may need to fill it up a little and turn the wheel from left to right. By turning the wheel to the max left and max right, the steering fluid will circulate and may get rid of the problem.

If the problem still persists after putting on new fluids, go for the power steering pump replacement. Be sure to tighten the power steering belt after replacement.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2003 chevrolet z71 turns easily to the left, difficult to the right. Was told it could be the power steering pump. That did no good.

The trucks like yours have a rack and pinion steering, and when rack and pinion steering need replacing they get hard to turn in one direction just as you have described.

My 2003 Buick Regal makes a load whinning sound when I turn. WHat could be causing this?

Hi, it could be a wheel bearing. if you turn left and you hear it it will be your right front bearing and visa-versa. could be the power steering belt that needs replacing, good luck with it.

Bleeding power steering pump

Just did mine...unplug 2-3 of your plug wires so the vehicle doesn't start but turns over. Turn over motor a few seconds then refill power steering resevoir. Repeat until resevoir quits needing fluid...replace wires and drive slowly turning steering wheel from just short of all the way right then repeat to the left. This will get the air out of the lines. Check the fluid after this last step.
