No, like others said, there's an access plate under the rear seats. Most imports (Honda, Toyota, Nissan) have this access plate to get to the pump. Some domestics don't (90's Camaros etc)

No. Just did this myself this weekend. Access under rear passenger side seat. Easier than changing the #6 spark plug :)

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE FUEL PUMP ON 2003 NISSAN XTERRA ? HOW DO CONNECTORS COME APART ?

You have to remove or drop the fuel tank
All or most vehicle wire connectors have a
tab to press or lift to unlock
For the fuel lines you can get just a couple
release tools at most auto parts stores or online.

Fuel pump replacement procedure

Did you check the fuel pump relay switch? (behind R-headlight, from radiator, 3rd over [3.1 V6])
They have caused many unnecessary pump replacements.

As for the pump; You will need to drop the tank, but emptying it isn't required.
First: Disconnect the battery.

There are 2 straps holding the tank to the vehicle, and once out you'll pull the sending unit at the top of the tank.
* Remove the electrical connections before opening the fuel lines...redundant, I know...but safe.

Should the weight of a full tank be an issue, a cheap hand-pump from Autozone will connect to the primary fuel line in order to transfer the fuel to containers (or another vehicle).

Is it a big job to change the fuel pump on a 2001 nissan xterra

maybe got to drop the tank to get to the top of the tank and take the lock ring off to remove fuel pump from inside the tank while dropping the tank take care not to rip the harness wires to the pump and sending unit and also change the fuel filters always when putting a pump on.

2002 Dodge Neon Fuel Pump Replacement

It most definatly is in the tank. and the tank will have to be dropped. Unless you have a lift, it will be a pain in the ****. Especially if there is a full tank of gas.

2005 Nissan Xterra gas gauge reads empty when full of gas.

Sending unit died. can be expencive to replace since most sending units are integral with the fuel pump now. lots of labor too. Better to use the trip odometer till you can afford a day without your car and a $600.00 +labor repair bill.

No fuel coming out of fuel pump, replaced w/new pump, now it humms but still too long

There is usually a screen strainer inside fuel tank. This is to pick up big stuff inside tank and keep it from entering fuel lines. If someone was messing with you and dropped like a glove or piece of cloth into the fuel tank it would float around and eventually get caught against the screen and would keep gas from being sucked out of the tank. This is one possibility to consider.
