Check under the brake to see if sensor is moving in and out. Then check the wires attached.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

07 Chevy Cobalt brake lights do not work. turn signals work, tail lights work, Cyclops brake light also works. Fuse is good. New bulbs

so 3 lamps (usa deal with cyclops)

and you say 2 fail L/R and center works?
is that true. or a typo.... ?
if never seen any car wiring go to center then left then right
in a daisy chain.
most go left , then both seperate path to center and right.
in USA, we have LHD cars, not right. side. drive.
and RHD cars are wired, backwards.
i refuse to do world wide Cobalt market look ups. no country state and all lights is different world wide as are color codes.

ok try on light at a time, put in, take out, move it 3 times.
works?

I bet all 3 are dead for brakes.
if true.
its the brake lamp switch malfing.
or cut wires ,due to trailer hitch goons. (hackers)

Brake lights not working at tail lights but the light in the rear window does come on when brake pedal is pushed.....regular tail lights come on...right and left turn signals also work ....flashers...

the upper brake light works differently than the outer lights. check your brake light switch by the brake pedal. It will have a plunger switch on it. The center brake lamp works off a power convertor instead off the brake light switch. The switch has a separate wire for that which is still working

Brake light, reverse light and turn signal issues

Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.

1989 Toyota Camry. No brake lights.

It could be the relay, which is a yellow box located under the carpeting in the trunk on the left side. It is a problem common to your model. Also, check the brake switch's (behind the brake pedal) functionality (12V present with key at ACC or ON and continuity between wires when button engaged).

i hope this helps

1989 Cadillac rear lights stay on

It may be a turn hazard module under dash.that is the culprit! The power to the third brake light does not go through the module, but the rear brake lamps power is controlled through this module. I am looking at a drawing of one and it looks like it has two connectors with about five wires in one and six in the other. It has some cooling fins on it also.

2005 Toyota Sienna rear brake light problem. The rear center brake light works. The rear left and right brake lights do not. Fuses are fine. Checked bulbs and they look fine and have continuity. If not...

have you checked the earthing continuity-if it's this other bulbs may also partly light when brakes used
otherwise-
Check continuity of live from center to lh & rh lights and/or is there a live at those lights

Brake lights do not work, all other lights work.

My fiancee' followed Ron's instruction, on where to find the brake light switch, and was finally able to locate it, get it out, and replace it with a new one. I now have brake lights. He had been looking all morning for the switch but could not find it, and he is an ace mechanic, so thanks to Ron for his expert advice. You guys are the greatest!!

1990 Volvo DL Sedan Brake Lites Work but Also Come on With Running Lites

Is there a switch on the left side of the dash that has a red lens and a wavy line across it? If so, you have a rear fog light switch and it has been activated, causing your brake lights to come on each time you turn your headlights on. Flip the switch and the rear lights should display only the parking lights with the headlights on.
