P1537 Intake Manifold Runner Control (Bank 1) Stuck Open
P1538 Intake Manifold Runner Control (Bank 2) Stuck Open
These codes are caused by a defective intake manifold variable runner length control valve, very common problem but not the cause of your no start, it is more likely the problem is a defective fuel pump than anythiong else that this 20 Ford dealer tech has seen go wrong on the Windstar, the next issue would be no spark.

The next thing to look at would be the crankshaft position sensor, u must also varify u have power to the ignition system as these cars also have ignition switch problems, test the positive side of coil and see if it as voltage when the key is turned on, if there is no votage then the ignition switch may be the problem..

Hi there, what youll have to do first is find out what isnt functioning during no-start. After the engine stalls pull a spark plug wire and check for spark with someone cranking the engine. Do you have spark?

Have you had the vehicle scanned? Are there any codes? Could be a faulty crank sensor or the coil but you will have to hook the vehicle up to a scanner to verify. Both coil & crank sensor failures are very common with this vehicle. You could probably have the engine scanned for free at a parts store like auto zone or check local ads for specials shouldnt cost more than $30-$40

Was driving down the road and it just went dead. It's getting gas and fire but will not crank.

I encountered a similar problem on a chev 4cyl with a coil pack ignition ( no distributor). It would run for a while and suddenly die out and wouldn't restart until a 10 to 20 min. cooling period. It turned out to be a crankshaft position sensor going bad. On this engine it was located in the engine block under the ignition module on the firewall side.

98 ford mustang 4.6 troubleshooting engine just cut off 15 min later it started then 20 min. it cut off agian

Does this car still have the catylatic converter on it?If so that could most likely be the problem.Depends on what state you are in for the emissions codes, but you can cut it out and just add a piece of pipe from your local parts store and add a collector to it.Its not that hard.

De-activate immobilizer of 98 Toyota Corolla

Simple thing to do is have your coils checked.. You should have spark if they are good.. If you still dont then disconnect battery at least 20 - 25 mins see if it resets ecm and alarm. May begin to work properly again..

Starter issues with 98 Ford Windstar (3.8)

one problem that the 98 winstars ( 3,8L ) are prone to is the transmission range sensor. they are badly located and not well sealed. As a result corosion...
The starter solenoid wire ( red/ light blue ) runs throught the range sensor before reaching the ignition switch.
Try shifting back and forth between Park and L1 rapedly at least 5, 6 times and then try starting in Neutral.
If it starts the TRS is easy to replace and accesible.
( The TRS is also responsible for the transmission going into irradical kick down mode )

Engine will not

If the engine is turning over then it is either the fuel or ignition fault. When yoy tried to start after 20 minute, you must have flooded the fuel system(carbureter). Once excess fuel had evaporated the truck started.
You try putting fuel cleaner in tank or carbureter and see if it cures it.
