Problem for Lincoln 1996 Continental
1996 Lincoln Continental engine shuts off
I have a 1996 Lincoln Continental. My problem is the engine shuts off, usually when going over bumps or making hard turns. The engine always comes back on when I restart it. The car has been back to the mechanic many times but he cannot pinpoint the problem nor can he reproduce it. He replaced some relay but the problem is still there. The 'Service Engine Light' is constantly on in the dashboard, but he says this wouldn't be causing the problem I am having. Said it has to do with some anti-pollution device failing.

How many miles on the car? Did he get any codes out of the computer? Do you have exhaust leaks at the exhaust manifold?
Check this
1. fuel pressure at fuel rail 30psi at least.
2. EGR valve located on throttle body and follow tube on back side of motor.

or it could possibly be a bad connector in the engine compartment...sometimes just disconnecting and reconnecting can fix the problem
