Truck won't start

Have a 94 chevy Blazer 5.7L, it will not start/crank when you turn the key. I had the starter re-build, but only worked for 1month. I tried starting one day and alot of smoke came from the hood. After opening the distribution panel under the hood, one wire was completely "melted" . Still the truck will not start, have to park "up" on the hill in order to "pop" the clucth. Truck runs fine after starting, but once turned oof it will not start.....just silent. HELP!!

What about the melted wire in the junction/distribution block? Also was thinking if it might be the clutch switch since this is a manual(stick shift? full size 2door Blazer 5.7L V8

Just installed the clutch "neutral" switch (manual trans) but still won't start/crank(silent). Also changed the melted wire. Also have a starter from the junkyard that I will install tommorow. If this this doesn't help the only thing I have not done is the starter switch inside the steering column...

The starter smells awfully bad? If so its toasted & needs replacement. It should be under warranty if you purchased a rebuilt

The wire to the punction block goes directly to the electrical ignition switch. You need to replace it if melted and go from there with further testing. Anything that looks destroyed has to be repaired first. These wires can ground out from age & movement. Any accessories added to the dash can also be rubbing wires under your dash causing this problem

94 jimmy will crank, runs good when cranked but when you turn it off won't crank til you let it sit or the next day. I can hear the fuel pump come on. The rotor button on the distributor is not po

Concentrate on the starting circuit: from the ignition switch to the neutral safety switch to the starter relay to the starter solenoid on the starter. If it won't crank, one of these parts or the wiring associated is not working right. Quite often the electrical contacts in the starter solenoid become pitted, slightly burned maybe, and lose contact. If you have power on the solenoid wire when key is held in crank and starter won't operate, the solenoid is the problem.

2004 chevy blazer will not turn over

Just to clarify what you said, if it cranks it turns over.
If it won't start, you would check for spark at the plugs and fuel pressure at the rail. Vortec engines need at least 60psi fuel pressure to start. If you have spark you could try spraying carb cleaner into the intake hose to boost the amount of fuel as a test.

Have a '94 S-10 Blazer Tahoe 4X4 and it starts

My suspicion is a starter going bad. Sometimes when starters get old and worn they will start good when the engine is cold but not when the engine is warmed up. Did you perhaps notice that lately is seemed to drag when you tried starting, especially warm or it seemed to crank a little slower? I'd replace the starter. Hope this helps.

1999 Chevy Blazer Engine will not crank over. All

try turning the key over to the start position. then take a long screwdriver and touch it across the terminals on the starter. this should start your vehicle. if the sarter doesnt turn when you do this, then you have the starter locked up,and yo will have to take it off and install some shims under the bolts.if the starter is trying to turn and the lywheel isnt urning...then you have a locked up engine.

Problem with a 2000 chevy blazer not starting

Have replaced starter, alternator , ignition wiring, neutral safety starter switch, still happens ??????? Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Not guessing an replacing parts . Not starting ??? How ? when you turn the key to start does the starter motor engage an spin the engine ? Or when you turn the key to start nothing happens ? A no crank no start or a cranks no start . Plus you shoud learn how the system works before trying to diagnose .

The humming noise you hear is the fuel pump. It is probably your starter soleniod. If you hear an electric click under the dash near the steering column when you turn the key then the ignition switch is ok and your starter needs to be replaced. This happened to me last month.

it sounds like your ignition switch could be bad, it is mounted on the steering column under the dash, it is the actual switch that activates the ignition and starter when you turn your key. if it is going bad it will give the same symptoms that you have described.
