Check to see if you can hear the pump and check the line coming for the compressor also make sure the switch did not get bump because there is one on my Expedition on the passenager side under the dash also try this website its www.alladtadiy.com

My secondary air pump for my exhaust system is no good causing my car to fail inspection is it easy to fix


YEP EASY FIX CHECK FUSES TO AIR PUMP VACUUM SOLENOID.CHECK VACUUM HOSES AND VACUUM SOURCE TO THE AIR PUMP VACUUM SOLENOID .THE AIR PUMP VACUUM VALVE SOLENOID IS NORMALLY CLOSED NO VACUUM IS APPLIED TO THE CHECK VALVE. WHEN THE PCM ENERGIZES THE SOLENOID BY COMPLETING THE CIRCUIT TO GROUND. THE VALVE OPENS VACUUM IS APPLIED TO THE CHECK VALVE. THE CHECK VALVE OPENS AND AIR FLOWS THROUGH THE TUBE INTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THREE THINGS WILL CAUSE SECONDARY AIR PUMP PROBLEMS.THE SECONDARY AIR PUMP IS BAD.OR THE AIR PUMP VACUUM SOLENOID NOT GETTING VACUUM OR POWER.OR THE CHECK VALVE TO EXHAUST MANIFOLD NOT OPENING.IF YOU HAVE FAULTY SECONDARY AIR PUMP IT WILL MAKE SQUEALING NOISE AIR PUMP GETTING READY TO LOCK UP.

Definition
Secondary Air Injection System fault
Explanation
The air injection system is monitored for faults
Probable Causes
1) Circuit relay defective or fuse open
2) Check connector and wiring
3) AIR pump defective or hoses blocked

You have an air injection problem with the emissions system, check with a tech for any tsb's or recall extended warranty etc that are related to that system. CHECK WARRANTY!

It can be caused by...
Water may have collected in the AIR pump or the vent solenoid and frozen or corroded the pump.
Blown AIR pump fuse due to freezing up.

Possible solutions:
The TSB calls for the replacement of the AIR pump and the installation of a new secondary injection hose.
Replace the AIR pump AND one-way check valve.
Test and clean the AIR pump AND test and replace the one-way air check valve.
Replace the AIR pump inlet hose.
Replace the AIR pump fuse (found under the hood).

You might have to replace a hose or two, or you might need an entire new air pump. A visual inspection from a licensed mechanic will confirm exactly what needs to be replaced, as it can be one of several things, if not multiple problems.

DESCRIPTION

The Secondary Air injection (AIR) system consists of an air pump, the Air Switching Valve (ASV), a pressure sensor, the Air Injection Control Driver (AID) and the ECM. For a short time after cold engine starts, the AIR system pumps secondary air to the exhaust port of the cylinder head to purify the exhaust emissions. The secondary air is supplied by the air pump and is pumped to the exhaust port through the ASV.
The AID drives the ASV and the air pump according to command signals transmitted by the ECM. The pressure sensor detects the pressure in the secondary air passage when the AIR system is ON and OFF, and transmits a pressure signal to the ECM.
The AID is not only equipped to drive the pump and valve, but also with a diagnosis function to detect malfunctions in the AIR system circuit.

If everything else is working, the compressor and the air bags are good, and the lines are ok, then you might have a bad leveling switch. That what actually controls the compressor.

PO410. Secondary air pump code.

Check fuse for air pump. Blown.
Replaced the air pump if it's in Bad shape.
The air pump is only $100 (NAPA) Gotta be water in the air pump. Water gets in air pump...then rapid below freezing conditions the air pump freezes...blows fuse.....set air pump code.

There is a GM bulletin about a new intake tube for the air pump for exactly this problem. This new intake tube should save the air pump, get the new intake pipe/valve the same time you repair or replace the air pump if it's gone bad. Check the fuse first though, good luck.

The P0410 code refers to the emissions system. The AIR pump puts air to the exhaust to lower emissions. It takes in outside air and pumps it through two one-way check valves into each bank of the exhaust.
.
About 90% of the time that this code is set, the one-way check valves have worn out or failed and allow water (which occurs naturally in the exhaust) back into the pump. In any cold climate, especially in climates with higher humidity, this water may be more excessive. The water partially fills the AIR pump, it can then freeze. When the PCM commands the pump on, if the pump is frozen it cannot turn, thus overloading the circuit and "popping" the fuse.

A code P0410 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
  • Water may have collected in the AIR pump or the vent solenoid and frozen or corroded the pump
  • Blown AIR pump fuse due to freezing up
Possible solution:
This may be covered under the emissions warranty on the vehicle. If your vehicle is out of bumper-to-bumper warranty, check if the emissions warranty is still valid!
  • Replace the AIR pump AND one-way check valve
  • Test and clean the AIR pump AND test and replace the one-way air check valve
  • Replace the AIR pump inlet hose
  • Replace the AIR pump fuse (found under the hood)

DTC P0411/16795: SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM - INCORRECT FLOW DETECTED
Test Requirements
Ensure all fuses are okay, battery voltage is at least 11.5 volts, all electrical accessories are off, A/C is off.
Ensure engine is mechanically sound.
Test Procedure

NOTE
Secondary air system is activated by ECM and blows air into exhaust pipe
upstream of catalytic converter for 100 seconds during a cold start, 41-91°F (5-
33°C). Engine must be cold to perform following test procedure.

1. Ensure fuse and secondary fuse (secondary fuse is 40 amp and is located in fuse holder on top of battery)
are okay. Check hoses and components of Secondary Air Injection System, for damage, loose fit and
improper installation, check vacuum hoses for Secondary Air Injection System. Repair as necessary.
Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. If DTC does not reset, test is complete. Perform ECM relearn
procedure. See TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE .
2. Remove engine cover. Disconnect pressure hose from Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101), by pressing
buttons on hose connector. See Fig. 33 . Using scan tool, check Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) in
scan tool Output Diagnostic Test Mode (Secondary Air Pump Relay activation mode). See OUTPUT
DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
3. Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) should run in intervals and air should exit pump at hose connection.
If Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) is okay, go to step 7 . If motor runs and no air exits secondary air
pump motor, replace faulty Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101). Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. Test
is complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure. See TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE . If
secondary air pump motor does not run, go to next step.
4. Disconnect Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) harness connector, install LED test light at secondary air
pump harness connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, activate Secondary Air Pump Motor
(V101) in scan tool Output Diagnostic Test Mode (Secondary Air Pump Relay activation mode). See
OUTPUT DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE . LED test light at Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) harness
connector should flash. If LED test light at Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) harness connector does
not flash, go to next step. If LED test light at Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) harness connector
flashes, replace faulty Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101). Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. Test is
complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure. See TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE .
5. Using DVOM check resistance of Secondary Air Pump Motor (V101) wiring. See appropriate WIRING
DIAGRAM under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. Resistance should
be a maximum of 1.5 ohms for each reading. Check wiring for short circuit to one another in Secondary
Air Pump Motor (N101) harness connector. Repair as necessary. Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. Test
is complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure.
Secondary Air Pump Motor (N101) wiring is okay, go to next step.
6. Check Secondary Air Pump Relay (J299) and Secondary Air Pump Relay (J299) wiring. See DTC
P0418/16802: SECONDARY AIR PUMP RELAY (J299), MALFUNCTION . Repair or replace as
necessary. Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. Test is complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure. See
TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE .
7. Disconnect vacuum hose from Secondary Air Injection Valve (N112) and disconnect pressure hose from
secondary air pump motor, press buttons on pressure hose connector to disconnect pressure hose. See Fig.
34 . Blow lightly into disconnected pressure hose, Combi-Valve should be closed. Connect hand vacuum
pump to disconnected vacuum hose and apply vacuum to Combi-Valve, Combi-Valve should open. If
Combi-Valve opens when vacuum is applied, Combi-Valve is okay. Go to next step. If Combi-Valve
does not open when vacuum is applied, replace faulty Combi-Valve. Erase DTC memory. Verify repair.
Test is complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure. See TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE .
8. Check Secondary Air Injection Valve (N112). See DTC P0412/16796: SECONDARY AIR
INJECTION VALVE (N112), ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION . Repair as necessary.
Erase DTC memory. Verify repair. Test is complete. Perform ECM relearn procedure.
NOTE: Do not use compressed air to check Combi-Valve.
