Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Bravada

96 old bravada multiple misfires

I have already checked/tested the ignition module-ok. changed the coil pack. still runs rough. i checked the plugs, 2 are not responding. driver side rear, and passenger middle plugs. what do you think the problem is? a fuel pump, maf sensor, or something else.
when i put the new coil pack in, no difference, still ran really rough. rumbling like a built 350. i then was running the bravada last night and found out the pcv upper boot was blown out. i changed that and it ran smoother. any help would be great, i have wasted my entire vacation trying to figure out what i need to do.

do you think the maf sensor might be bad? my buddy was trying to tell me that the fuel pump (235.00) was gonna need to be changed. he checked my fuel pressure from the rail, and it read above 50. when started it ran between 50-55 sporatically. is the fuel gonna read that way if the plugs. wires are bad? is the fuel pump ok?

On those amung other there is a wire from the module to the crank sensor it might have melted and be shorting out. make sure its not melted between the sensor and the module. they mainly melt after awhile.

I think the problem is more in the plug wires/plugs. Get a long piece of plug wire, long enough to fit to any plug, and check the plugs, one wire at the time. You'll rule out wires and find the bad one if there is one.

Simplest way? Go to your nearest Autozone, and ask to hook up their portable handhelt and check your engine.

Bet it is plugs and/wires. You checked two with no response? Replace those!

Transmission motnana missfire traveling

If your car is misfiring when driving then it could be your ignition module. I had the same problem and changed all plugs and wires multiple times, also had the coil pack fixed. It ended up being the ignition module. Try changing all plugs and wires then have the ignition module checked.

usually misfire codes are caused by a bad coil pack or an ignition module. You didn't do yourself any injustice by changing the plugs and wires, as that is good preventive maintenance, but you need to keep up the hunt for the problem. You can visually look over the ignition coils, and the modules too, but often they visually look ok, when they act up like yours is doing. You are down to trying to swap out some more parts!

usually when it gets colder outside the car will misfire and run rough because the ignition module/coil pack goes bad and makes it misfire, youre gonna have to replace the coil and module,,its the black long piece that sits on top of the spark plugs,1 wire connector and 4 10mm bolts remove them and pull up hard to pop the plug boots off the spark plugs, then install the new parts and you should be ok

Random Cylinder Misfire

The problem is the ignition control module such is under the coil packs. It seems to be an internal problem in the design. I have seen it many times and if you don't belive as many will not. So disconnect the modules electrical connector and just let it sit for two to three days. After that clean ir replace your sparkplugs, they will be fails up dew to it running lean and rich. Plug it in. Plug it in and wala its fixed $ but only for a week or two then back to the same thing so in short change the ignition module and save time and money, and don't forget to thank your friendly neighbor hood mexican mechanic.
