Blower motor only works on high speed

The blower motor on my 1999 Sonata only works on high. There is no loose connections at the motor. Is it the switch or a relay?

Thanks for the info. I am ordering the part now and will let you know if it works. Thanks again.

This was the problem. After pulling the resistor out I found that one of the terminals was disconnected. All I had to do was solder the terminal and now it is fine. This saved me $70 just for the part not to mention the money I saved in the problem being diagnosed. Thanks again localwonder.

most likely the resister. Not very expensive part and should be easy to change out if you know where its located ( usually under the dash) You can buy a repair manual for your model at any parts store, and be sure to ask the parts guy if he knows where its located. he might just be able to save you the cost of the manual. Good luck with it.

Trying to locate where the heater relay that hooks to the blower motor is located

It is mounted on the fire wall in a block of two or three relays depending on what equiptiment is standand in your vehicle. Its toword the left side near the ACand the blower motor units Like i said it depends on what you have some are intergrated into the motor . But if you have splice # S108 the goses to the relay and splits and goes to blower motor resistor unit then its the one on the far right hand side of the block. There all interchangable and work exactly the same. However the blower motor relay directs bat voltage to the blower motor olny at blower high speed setting. The blower motor resistors direct battery voltage at all other speed settings. S o in a nut shell if it works on high the relay is good and its the resistors or a connection issue. Try the connections first thats the most likely problem if you olny have high speed

Blower motor only workson high speed

most likely your blower motor resistor pack. It allows you to have low medium and high speeds. If a winding is broke in the resistor pack, then it could only work on high

probley one of five possiabes problems

1. blower motor is bad (if case alot times will take resistor or relay out with it)

2. blower resistor (conrols fan speeds usally one speed will go out first example still have high speed but now low)

3. relay (may be one or up to three) (if more than one usally wont have the resistor stated above)

4. fuses

5. blower switch

My 02 Stratus heater only works on high. Any idea

Your blower resistor is bad. It controls the mutiple speeds to allow you to go from low/med/high. When it goes bad you get one speed or no speeds....It's about $20-$50 at any local auto parts store. It mounted directly to the speed switch or on the heater plenum unit on the passenger side behind the glove box....

Heat/ac blower motor works on high. intermittent on other speeds.

Check the blower resistor pack - usually located in the heater air ducting in the blower fan airflow. Check for loose connections and open circuit resistors on the unit.
If speed 4 works always, its unlikely to be the blower motor ground connection.

I agree with 'motgor1258'... replace the blower resistor (it's actually a power transistor).

Blower motor

sounds like an "open circut to me. check for loose connections at the blower motor, blower motor resistor, and blower motor switch, you may have to tap each one several times to produce the railroad effect

Heater blower only blows on low

This could be a few different things:

1.Check the power and ground connections on your blower motor, corrosion can cause high resistance and a slow blower speed.

2. Check your available voltage at the blower motor on the different settings. it should vary with high supplying 12volts, make sure to do this check with the blower motor still plugged in.

3. Connect the blower to a 12v power source and see if it runs at high speed.

If all else fails i would check your resistor pack, i would not suspect this because when it fails you usually just loose all speeds except for high, but it could happen.
