selonide is pretty new, backfires when trying to start

  • its420_us May 11, 2010

Frankly, the only issue I've ever seen cause a backfire on a toyota V6, is the timing belt. It's a little job to replace it, but can be done in a couple hours if you have a idea of what you're doing. If you need further help, let me know.

Ok, it will turn over, and backfires when you try to start it. I would replace your timing belt.

Can you manually turn the engine from the harmonic balancer?

Hi I have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner and I've been having this engine problem. I recently replaced the tranny (3.0 engine v6 automatic). I got it from an uncle that had it sitting in the garage for like 2...

torque converter i would start with 2 years is a long time the jump ive experienced and this is a simple fix 10-40 dollar tranny sensors
when the sensors go bad they give a bucking sensation check transfilter for metal shavings your engine should be fine as you stated it sat for 2 years
warner mystery oil and a couple quicker tune up oil changes give that a shot
your engine has to work its self back make sure no oil mixing in with water from radiator this can give a jump if too much fluid in engine seals do go bad from sitting

Ok I replaced the ignition key switch.put a new starter on , new battery, got power to all above, however the starter won't turn over . There is no fuses blown . Checked at advance auto on my 91 pickup...

Car no start problem is sometimes very difficult to confirm. You try all the possible things, but still you get no fault and problem is still the same.--------
In that case, you need to check few things individually.
Check the spark, the battery, the crank, the fuel and other most possible parts. Click this link below for more details:--

We got a used auto transmission pickup for our grandson, his at light come on and now it takes forever to get it to catch a gear. he said that it is about 3000 rpm before it will move....any suggestions....

Cheap fix for now would be to put Lucas tranny fluid in.You'll probably find the tranny works ok when it heats up.The rubbers inside get stiff with age. Leave Lucas in for 3000 miles then ALL fluid must changed.

90Cadillac Brougham has been sitting

Replace all your fluids including the gas. Even if the gas looks good it can still be bad and will make the car run horrible. Oil needs to be changed just sitting everything has broken down same with tranny fluid. Change the tires and check the suspension and the shocks. Very nice car though. Just do the normal maintance on it. Filter, oil, tranny fluid, spark plugs, tires normal

Toyota pickup 1988 V6 Auto tranny does not shift into low 1

I guess the best , easiest & cheapest thing to do, right of the start is get fluid & filter changed, and lube all cables & linkages thoroughly, unless that's all been done recently.
