Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

My 2000 jetta gl is overheating the thermastat is good and the fans work but when you turn on the heater only cold air blows hi can somebody help me, i have a 2000 jetta gls 2.0 with 195000 km. the other day it started to overheat. just today i brought it to change the thermostat but it still overheats, my mechanic said that the water pump needs to be changed because the cheap plastic impeller is a problem on these cars. anything else that i might need to do besides the water pump and timing belt etc.. i drive for not even 5 minutes in 20 degree celcius weather and it already starts to heat up. i hope someone can help me

I have a 2000 Alero that is over heating and blowing cold air inside the car i just changed the thermastat and the result is the same????

Hi there you could try flushing the system, it sounds like your Heater Matrix ( heater core ) this could be blocked with limescale/antifreeze deposits etcor just broken.

hope this helps , please rate :)

sounds like your cooling system isn't full.  with the heater on Hi refill the cooling system and bleed it until all the air comes out.  Sometimes you need to raise the front of the car.  And there may be a bleed screw on the thermostat housing.
