Recheck your timing marks. Sounds like valve timing is off. Check compression it needs a minimum 90 lbs to run. Bet you money the timing belt was put on out of phase.

crank sensor is one possible cause.

Make sure you use the key with the chip in it.

i have the same problem i have adjusted the timing and also replaced the crank postion sensor and it wont stay running what could it be.

there should be two bolts on the bottom of the transmission the higher one is for the fill and the lower one is the drain... for an 05 optima i recommend 2 quarts penzoil manual transmission gear oil

It could be that the fuel pump is dying .

try to get it scanned with that much water i.e. wet air filter grandma probably cooked the computer

To confirm the clutch is slipping , drive at about 35mph in 5th gear and then put your foot to the floor (making sure the road in front is clear!) IF the engine note increases along with the revs and the speed stays the same then it is the clutch that needs replacing.
