Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero
The instrument panel and ac blinks off at the same time while driving, but it usually comes back on soon and it how the lights look when you turn the car on. Several times when I start the car these same things won't work but usually in a few minutes they come back on. I have tried to check fuses and to see if there is a water leak that could be causing a short, but i can't find anything.
We checked.....the fuses, all of the wires from the instrument panel, and the grounds from the cluster connection to the fuses and all seemed to be normal. We couldn't find the main master ground, but all of the wires from the cluster seemed to be grounded correctly. We think the problem has to be the custer going bad. it has 126000 miles on the instrument panel. We have another ordered, but only because that is the last resort to fixing the problem. I know it is a weird temp fix, but my husband found a mild tap on top seems to jolt it just enough to make it start working again for a short while until the new cluster arrives.
