Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Am
Ok my car shows PO300 ( random misfire ). I replaced my spark plugs. Then came to realize my exaust is cracked because the clamp broke and the weight of hanging. I patched it with metal car epoxy of some sort then put a sleve and clamps on it. the light still comes on, when driving the car it will loose power and start bogging out but it never fully dies out. im thinking it could be maybe the EGR valve??? Fuel valve??? or maybe the cadillac converter??? who knows i know im 21 and low on $ and this is lame! please help
Sounds like the catalytic converter plugged. Don't continue to drive car till something gets done with this as you can damage the engine by the excessive heat. Do something but remember it is illegal to take these converters off and not replace them, so be careful what you decide to do. good luck with it.

I recently had the same problem with my grand am.The catalytic converter is probably bad and clogged up.I took the exhaust apart underneath the car and hammered a metal pipe thru the converter. This took care of my light problem and the bogging down although this is only a temporary fix.A new converter is 150+ and i didnt have the money either.
