SOURCE: where is crankshaft sensor on 99 kia sportage?

The crankshaft pos. sensor is located on the left "driver" side of the engine on the bellhousing and is retained by a single 10mm bolt. The sensor may be tight,be sure to twist as you pull so that it doesnt break off in the bottom end.

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage trouble code po171 once in

I have 2005 Kia Sportage with a check engine light. No other symptoms. I was told by Kia and Local mechanic that it is the fuel injectors. Error Code states that Fuel injectors are running lean. Put Master airflow- no change. Ran engine test with propane to run rich and trim never changed from 15. Car runs great. Kia dealer said that this is because we use Ethel in gas that it effects the alumium fuel rail delivery to the injectors and that it is necessary to change all of them .Kia Dealer wants $1,000.00 deposit to place order 6 fuel injectors from Kia. (Has anyone heard of that?)Also put fuel injector cleaner in tank.Does anyone have any suggestions before I spend over $1,000.00 to replace all 6 injectors or possible idea of what could be wrong?

SOURCE: how to repair a fuel tank pressure sensor in a

The Fuel tank pressure sensor or Fuel pressure sensor? The pressure sensor for the fuel line is located in the Engine compartment, although I don't have the exact location it is located on the fuel line. If your talking about the Fuel level sensor that is actually part of the Fuel pump assembly. You should pick up the Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle before attempting either repair.

Trouble codes

I found this online for you.
Possible causes for this check engine light code include:
Blown oxygen sensor fuse
Open circuit in oxygen sensor harness
Open circuit internal to oxygen sensor
Open circuit in PCM
Short circuit in oxygen sensor harness
Short circuit internal to oxygen sensor
Short circuit internal to PCM
Diagnostic Help: To diagnose a P0061 check engine light code we will need to test out the oxygen sensor wiring and also test the circuits through the oxygen sensor itself. The internal processor circuits are a possible cause but are much less likely, so the other areas are thoroughly testedicon1.png first. See our article Automotive Circuit Testing 101, if you need more assistance with this. If concern is determined to be intermittent, check out our article on Intermittent Diagnosis and wiggle test connectors and wiring, attempting to duplicate concern. I have a 99 Kia sportage Ex, the dealer said that I need an oxygen sensor. No other shop can pull up the code. What does an oxygen sensor do? How would I know if it is really needed???

Any auto parts store should be able to scan the computer for trouble codes. If the check engine light is not on you probably don't have any stored codes.
The O2 sensor monitors the exhaust gas to find the level of unburned fuel. The computer takes the data from the sensor and adjusts on time for the fuel injectors.

The Egine Lights of my Kia Sportage 1999 is always on when i am driving and it wont turn off. Some mechanic recommend that i must replace the cat convertor and oxygen sensor can that be true before i buy...

Hi.

When the check engine lights comes on there are codes stored in the ECU module (car main computer.
To know what must be replaced you need to find out what codes are stored in the ECU.
Post 1995 codes adhere to OBDII standard (see here: Kia OBD-II Trouble Codes). The codes can be retrieved connecting the ECU to a code scanner (like this:Actron CP9575), and performing a scan.
If you live in the US, code scanning can be done for free at the nearest Autozone, otherwise you can have a code scanning done at your garage for a small fee.

Regarding the mechanic's suggestion of replacing the cat convertor and oxygen sensor, that is probably based on testing. If the mechanic has checked the emissions, and emissions are hight though the engine is OK, then it may time to replace the cat converter. The mechanic can also decide to replace the cat converter if the part is not in good shape.

If the decision is based on an O2 sensor OBDII code, before replacing the sensor better having a quick look at emission and engine.

The best way to proceed is generally determined by the code returned and by the checkup of state of the engine, O2 sensor, and exhaust system.

Regards.

Ginko.

1998 Kia Sportage. Temperature gauge is not working.Any ideas on what could be causing this.

If it is the only guage that doesn't work at all, i would check every sensor wire connection, then the wire itself (purhaps insulation rubbed off or melted) as these sensors use return voltage.
