LOUD sounds when braking(99 Corolla)

In morning when i back out of parking area and then have to brake before i pull out onto street, my brakes make a LOUD screech/grinding sound. It's loud enough that people on street stop & stare, and is worse on mornings when it rained overnight or is raining. After i brake afew times, it will stop for the day(until the next morning!) Someone suggested it was dust or rust on brake pads;my pads are not in need of changing , by the way.

Does this happen only when you back up? If so you probaply have a missing caliper bolt or it is very loose.

It is dust/rust and it comes from a low quality or a high carbon metalic brake pad or shoe. this problem can be corrected by using the OE manufacturer parts or the use of Ceramic pads/shoes. However don't be fooled by "Ceramic" on a box, it may just contain ceramic particals and not be a true ceramic pad/shoe. In over 16 years in automotive specialty repair I have found the PD line of the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads/shoes to be the best economical fix or the Top of the line Akebono Ceramic line will fix what ailes you.

Parking Brake Light won't turn off, Cruise Control won't engage

Get down and look at parking brake assembly, If you see an electrical connector, unplug it, see if that helps? If it doesn't help or causes other issues just plug it back in.
Of course that isn't the proper fix. If something wrong with parking brake assembly, get it checked out.

99 Toyota corolla. I just replaced the brakes all the way around a month ago. pads on front, shoes on back. It now makes an awful grinding sound when the brakes are applied and sounds like metal to metal....

You'll have to determine which wheel the sound is coming from and check it again. It could be something hitting the rotor or drum other than the shoes and pads. Like a brake spring or guide.
You can raise each front wheel one at a time and have someone step on the brakes while you listen too. This may turn on the ABS light however.

I popped a brake line on my 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, unfortunately it's in a VERY expensive parking garage with ceilings so low it can't be towed out. Will the parking brake still work so I ca

Yes parking brake will still work. It is mechanical with a wire going from pedal/handle that when pulled squeezes the brake shoes round the rotor. Just go real slow and you should be alright. Hope this helped you.

Right rear brake appears to be locked

Your rear brakes are not releasing. Make sure your brakes are fully released. Pull up and down on it a couple of times.Jack up the rear of the vehicle to get the tires of the surface and see if you can turn the wheels by hand. Brake cable may be bad. do this and post again

It sounds like a brake is out. Did you make sure to pull the parking brake release? That would do it to. But it definetly sounds like a bad brake.

Loud noise sometimes ocurs when excelerating or braking. sounds like metal draging , but it is not.

Is the car stick shift or auto. Sound like a problem with either the transmission which is spinning all the time even when sat still. Or the Rear axel is tuffed out..

2001 corolla parking brake light on . Rear brakes making a rubbing noise

I would think that your parking brake cables and/or the park brake pivots may be seized. It appears that your rear brakes are being kept on by one or both of the abovementioned problems.
