For the most part a clutch cost somewhere around $500.00 dollars but you can do it yourself and cost the cost in half try this website to see if they have your car listed if they do you be able to get pictures and diagrams on how to repair your car if you have a autozone near you if you need some special tools you can rent them return them and get your money back and here is another website

What does it mean when the engine is knocking? How much does it typically cost to replace the engine on a 1999 mercury cougar, 5spd?

"Knocking" can be a number of things bearings, wrist pins, etc... Prices vary depending on shops' labor rate and parts supplier. Shop around and I'm sure each shop is going to want to see/hear the problem. Who knows, it might not need a new engine.

Previously had a oil leak which damaged my engine i had a new engine put in my car in March and then 16 weeks later my car was still leaking oil and the car would not go into 1st 2nd or reverse the garage...

I would take it back to the garage that put the clutch in. The car not going into 1st, 2nd, or reverse is a transmission problem not an engine problem.

I would take it back to the garage that put the engine to verify whether the engine is leaking or the transmission.

Good luck on this repair.

Have a 1990 150 lariat 4x4 put new trans in,clutch, slave cyclinder, and clutch master cyclinder, still having problems with the clutch pedal being low, i bleeded the clutch several time but it won't come...

I assume that the master cylinder is correctly installed. In that case the master cylinder's piston rod (to which the pedal is attached) is too short or maladjusted.

'93 Cougar master cyclinder is leaking badly, OEM

There is an aftermarket available for $40-160. If you were to take it to a local shop instead of the dealer you could probably save alot of money.

How do I check the clutch fluid to a 1999 Mercury Cougar 4cyl

The brake master cylinder reservoir has a separate chamber and is used to supply the hydraulic clutch system. So make sure master cylinder reservoir is full.

Here is a pic of the system.
1. Brake master cylinder reservoir
2.Clutch master cylinder
3.Clutch slave cylinder with integrated release bearing

Clutch line is leaking what could it be?

hydraulic clutch i presume. easiest way to determine where it is leaking from is to examine the ground after it was been parked overnite.... the colour of the fluid you are adding is what you are looking for. i believe there are only three places it could leak... the master cyclinder for the clutch... the hose or the hydrualic cyclinder at the clutch itself.
