Question about 1987 Nissan 200SX

Seems to be overfuelling

I have a Nissan Pintara (I think 200sx is closest) with a CA20e SOHC EFI engine and it will not start. I think the problem is overfuelling, it has spark, compression and air, it just seems like there's too much fuel going in as the oil could actually be ignited because there was that much fuel in it. What could be causing this?

    Compression was perfect on all 4 cylinders.
    The car started and ran twice without a problem then on the 3rd attempt it just wouldn't start and hasn't started since.

    I did what you said, fired and ran for a second, reconnected the injectors and it wouldn't start and flooded out.
    Replaced the ECU with a second hand unit from the wreckers, bada bam, starts and runs fine every time. I assume the ECU was grounding out all the injectors, causing mass ammounts of petrol to be squirted in to the cylinder, when there's that much petrol in a cylinder and it's left to sit, it can quite easily pass down past the compression and oil rings in to the sump.

There should'nt be any fuel in your oil, it sounds like you might have a blown head gasket. If you think it might be overfuelling then remove the injector clips (don't mess up the order) and pour some fuel down the manifold and try start it. If it does'nt give a good effort at starting then I'd say you need to run a compression test. Sounds like you have a cracked block, warped head or bad head gasket.

    Disconnect the fuel injectors and pour some fuel down the manifold and post your results. I really cant see how you should have fuel in your engine oil, there simply isn't a way it should be able to get there.

Over fuelling

what engine, ?
carb or EFI, most were carb then,. but.>>>>?????
not all.
if carb, then the carb is bad. kit it and clean it. then tune it.
if EFI, (is the CEL lamp going running?)
both is the Thermostat in engine, holding 180F or more? ?????
lots more when we know what engine, and carb/efi

Hey there, just bought 91' GLI 5-door hatch Nissan Pintara, Stanza same car. Has a ca20e 2.0 liter, fuel pump not pumping fuel to Filter, Engine etc. I have just spent 4-5 Hrs on it, it hadn't been started...

If it sat that long, a fuel hose can swell inside and pinch off fuel flow. If the tank was really dry, flakes can plug the pickup sock too. Try this. pull the small diameter wire off the starter and then hold the key in the start position. This will run the pump without cranking the engine. If you can hear the pump running, keep the key in the start position until the fuel lines are full. The pump will slow and become quiet. When that happens, put the wire back on the starter and try starting it.

Location of Alternator relay in 1987 Nissan Pintara 4cyl EFI, new alternator, new battery, fusable link ok, not charging properly, no charge light on dash.

I am assuming that when you say no alt light on dash , you mean that when you first turn key on for the bulb check it won't light. i f this is true then I would be looking at replacing the bulb first. most car's use the bulb in the dash as part of the excitment circut to get the alt to start charging.

That's probably because of the fact that they didn't make enough of that model of cars that they would put it on their website. That's what I would say. Just google clutch for australian Nissan Pintara and see what happens.

try looking near the bottom pulley or around the gearbox housing near to where it bolts to the engine
