Replacing a rear hub on mk6 escort

I need help on how take a rear hub off a mk6 escort because i want to change for one i'm going to get from scrap yard i think the bearing gone in old one and don't want to pay £40 for new bearings.Because they will only wear out again pritty quick as the back axle is bent.

Hi take wheel off let hand breake off if theres an adjuster on back loosen it (not sure if it has 1) remove centre cap undo nut remove bearing remove hub might be screw in hub job done

Any1 know if a mk6 escort as an ignition cut off switch if so do you know where it is??


Check on the inner side panels in the rear between the strut towers.You may see a small door in the side panels,pop this out and you should see the switch.

Assuming rear, on the brake drum:

Hub Removal
  1. If equipped, remove the brake drum (1126) ; refer to Section 206-02 . If equipped, remove the rear disc brake rotor (2C026) ; refer to Section 206-04 .
  1. Remove the wheel hub.
    1. Unstake the rear axle wheel hub retainer.
    1. Remove the rear axle wheel hub retainer and discard.
    1. Remove the wheel hub (1104).

have your suspension tested as well as stearing rack tested and not to forget swing arm and bushes, start with stearing rack / tracking.

can't say for sure-- but put it at 115 ftlb and get on with it-- it's really not that important

Rear wheel bearings keep going after only a short period of use.


When you install the bearing are you replacing the complete hub? The torque spec for this is 130-174 ft.lbs. Also are the rims and tires of stock size?
