Key may be cut right.. but the resister pellet in key is incorrect. You have to read the resistance of the ignition and get the proper resistance pellet in key to match inorder for the car to start. It is part of the pass key security system bulit into your car.

did u check .to make sure all the wires on the bottom of the steering cloum are hooked up. and make sure the ignition switch is the correct on ,if it has the fuel security chip on the key some gm models have a chip in the key this controls the fuel pump ,,whit out it the fuel pump will not turn on

If it's the same as the VATS system in my 86 Corvette (resistor pellet in key) the ignition switch might need to be replaced. The contacts on the key wore low, replacing the key helped for a short time but the new contacts wore the switch down faster then it too needed to be replaced. $200!
