Locks on 2004 Legacy Outback

My wife had just parked her car in a mall parking lot. As she was beginning to walk to the stores, another, newer Subaru pull up. Apparently when the driver of that Subaru, pushed the lock switch button on the key fob, my Wife's Car's lights flashed as her driver's door unlocked. But just the driver's door. She had to use her metal key to lock the car. At this time, the only way to lock the driver's door on her car is to use the metal door key. All of the other locks on the car can be opened and closed using my Wife's key fob switch. We tried both set of key fobs, so it is not the battery in the key fob. I'm beginning to think the signal from the other car somehow confused our car's electronic locks and maybe needs to be reset if possible. Does seem a bit far fetched. Any ideas would be helpful Thanks John I have the same problem. Just discovered today. Have not had time to look into it yet.

Sorry - seems my comment appeared along with a copy of the post by John. I have the same lock problem described by John - drivers side power lock does not work when using my key fob or using the lock/unlock power button inside the door. I have no idea how it happened but don't really suspect interference from another key fob. The mechanical lock lever does work. It would appear that the linkage between the lock mechnism and the solenoid or vacuum (not sure what system is used) is broken on the front door. All the other door locks operate as normal. Thanks for your help.

Youre right the car has somehow picked up the other remote, can happen,it happens in car yards sometimes, try disconnecting the battery for 30 or so mins and reconnect, and it really could need a dealer reset if battery disconnect doesnt work, not as far fetched as you think,1 remote can open 2 cars at once ive seen it with toyota corollas

Not far fetched. The frequencies may bleed like a radio channel does when its not right on. Your two frequencies may be so close or one much stronger(other car) You should have it check before someone else notices it. Good luck

Interior lights and door locks not working

The central element here is not a relay but the multi-function alarm lock & lighting (MALL) module. You indicate the 20A fuse in the relay center is OK. The MALL also receives BAT power through 15A CTSY/PWR MIR FUSE 6A and IGN input through 15A IGN CHIME/CLSTR FUSE 10 in the I/P fuse block. Voltage from 20A SIG/BU/LP BTIS/CCR FUSE 18 in the I/P fuse block passes through the park/neutral position switch in PARK position to supply PARK POSITION INPUT to the MALL. All of these inputs are required for the MALL to function correctly.

2004 dodge intrepid wont move out of park

Usually a problem with the brake switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
You may be able to unlock the key switch without turning the switch on, then take the shifter out of park.

My wifes 2001 Honda Odysseys battery did in a parking lot. Mall security hooked up the jumpstart cables wrong (I guess) now it won't start at all. Could he have overloaded the fuse? and is there

you need to look at the fuses in the under hood fuse box f you look at the center of the fuse and see if the line is broken in the center if so its bad

The battery (which I have replaced at least 3 times) is being drained??? I replaced the alternater. That did not help. I found the parking light light switch on the steering column - off. Please...

If you are handy this will allow you to figure out which circuit has the problem.
If you have electric door locks try pulling the fuse for its circuit-door locks have a habit of going bad and drawing current.

or check for a map light, glove box light, trunk light...you get the idea. that might be on when its not supposed to be on.

PARKING LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF

Look on top of the steering column behind the steering wheel. There may be a switch there with a "P" on it. This is how it is on our '02 Outback. If it's not there, then it's probably somewhere else on the dash. Happens a lot when you're cleaning the interior.

I have a 99 subaru legacy outback trans slip

cheak your fluid level in your transmission as if it is low it wont go into gear properly you will move it from park or neutral to a gear it can take a while before it will kick into gear if you top up the fluid that should fix the problem if it still does it after this take it to a tranmission specalist and have it serviced as the bands may be streched

Parking lights won't go off

This happened with my car too. I have a 2005 Legacy. There is a parking light on the steering column. Just turn off the light and you should be in good shape.
