Which gearbox would suit my 1998 capella

Unless you have some extra cash and a lot of time to play around and get the answers as to the possibility of doing what you propose It would be cheaper and quicker just to get another transmission fro the wreckers. That will get you back on the road quick and then you can experiment at leisure. Have you found out why the transmission blew so that the next one will not have the same problem.

Where is the fuse box in a 1989 Mazda capella (not the one under the bonnet)?

Hello
I did not give up, the Capella is the same as the 626 in the USA.

The fuse box and fuse box diagram is located in front of the driver side door approximately 8 inches from the floor, under the or near the dash. There is a black cover on the fuse box on the cover is a diagram of the fuse box fuses. Remember this is for a left hand drive as far as the driver position goes.

ABS, Traction control and handbrake light is on. Car was running on 3 cylinders previous to the lights coming on. 1999 Mazda SP20 Familia (323)

I have a Mazda Capella (626) 1998 and had similar problem other than it was running on 4 cylinders and the hand brake light was not on and the ANSWER was a speed sensor which is to do with ABS system needed replacing. You can determine which one is broken by putting volt meter over each of them.
