Was sold bad alternator from Checker Auto, caused battery to go dead again and blew a fuse for the instrument panel. Replaced alternator, fuse, and recharged battery. Everything works.

    Thank you two for responding

There could be a couple of causes, the most likely is a bad battery cable or connection, or the fusible link on the positive connection(marked bat on the alternator)has gone bad.

My 2004 ford explorer sport trac won't turn over and on the display it show bunch of dashes and says check gauges when i turn on the key

sounds like a dead battery , try a jump start ,if it starts have the alternator charge rate checked as if low may have been the cause of the battery going flat, then recharge the battery with a drive of about 20 miles

Titan does not start

Sometimes batteries corrode internally and short out, especially in hotter climates. When this happens it will not take a jump start no matter what. Get the battery tested and replace it if bad.

My battery went dead, so i recharge it and the car starts, now my throttle doesnt work what happend?

Sounds like when the battery went dead, there was still a little power left in it, and when starting was attempted, it went completely dead. This causes the computer to automatically shut down to prevent damage to it. Starting it afterwards may require allowing it to run until it reaches operating temp (when temp gauge is in center), and then restarting one or two times. If this doesn't work, you will need a scan tool to reset pcm.

it is either going to need a new starter or your alternator is dead. also, have you tried recharging the battery? your battery may actually be dead. also, check your transmission fluid levels/color

2001 kia sephia car wont start just a ticking sound what is wrong

The ticking or clicking sound is coming from your Starter Solenoid because it is not getting enough Voltage from the Battery to engage the Starter Drive. It sounds like you have a dead Battery, try recharging your Battery first to see if it holds a full charge or check your Battery with a Volt Meter, when not running it should show at least 11.5-12.5 Volts, which would be enough power to start your car, any lower than that replace the Battery.

Car battery consitently drains totally..battery is 11 mos, starter too and alternator is 10 mos...can't locate what is constantly causing drain...battery has been fully recharged and problem continues

That's tough to figure out because these newer car always have a slight draw on the battery. What you can do is disconnect the negative cable from the battery and put an "amp" gauge (ammeter) in between the (-) battery cable and the (-) terminal of the battery (DO NOT TRY TO START THE ENGINE YOU WILL FRY YOUR GAUGE). If there's a substantial draw on the system it will show up on the gauge, now start pulling the fuses on at time until the draw goes away. That will tell you witch circuit is drawing the battery down, you may want to start with disconnecting the battery terminal of the alternator, I know you said it's new but if the diodes are bad it drain the battery. One other thing you could try, is leaving the battery disconnected to see if the battery goes dead on it's own, you may have a defective battery.

Dead battery or starter?

Take the battery out and have it charged up. reinstall it and you should be allright. Your car has discharged it completely, and it will need a recharge to start. The gauge is only measuring voltage, and not the status of charge.
