Question about 2000 Chevrolet Prizm
Your dash lights are not getting either power or ground. one place that they could be losing power is through dimmer switch on dash. to find out if there is power to that switch you can get a test light at the car parts store, will set you back about five bucks, and then touch one end of test light, the sharp pointy end, to the wire to the dimmer switch and push the pointed end through the insulation to the conductor while touching the other end to ground. ground is going to be pretty much any metal you can get to inside the car, like a screw on the dash trim or something like that. if the light lights, there is power to the switch. if you have power to the switch but not through it then you probably have a bad dimmer switch. that would kill your dash lights.
