Had the same problem with my ford a few years back, found that the rubber seal on the piston in the compressor had run dry and it was too hard for the compressor to push the piston up and down the bore which cut the power to the compressor and you had to stop the car turn it off for a couple of minutes and restart it and the compressor would pump air for another couple of minutes and stop again.
I solved the problem by replacing the shocks with a pair of pump up shocks that have a valve like a tyre valve and you pump them up at the service station
hope this helps

How do you bleed a power steering pump on a 2005 dodge caravan

With the engine running slowly turn the steering wheel from stop to stop several times. Make sure the level stays full. As the air pockets are reduced the level may go down. It may take awhile to get all the air out of the system. If the power steering works it is not a problem.

My 2002 chevy venture van won't start after going through some water yesterday

You probably have water under the distributor cap. Take off distributor cap and spray with Either and wipe out good. Let it set for awhile then put back on and try. If you have air compressor you can blow out cap after you spray with either.

Electronic level control

I had this problem once, I pulled the fuse on the air compressor, then released the air from the shock, by removing the air line from the shock. Then I replace the fuse. So far It seems to work again.
Must have somehow gotten out of range for the auto-level controller, letting the air out manually reset it. Worked for me!
