THE FIRST SIGN OF A LEAK IS OIL. SINCE THE REFRIGERANT HAS A LIGHT LUBRICATING OIL MIXED IN WITH IT, YOU WON'T SEE FREON BUT OIL. SOMETIMES THE FREON HAS A LEAK DETECTOR DYE THAT MAY SHOW UP. IT IS MOSTLY GREEN IN COLOR. IF THE BOTTOM OF THE DUCT THAT HOUSES THE EVAPORATOR, IS WET, THEN YES IT IS LEAKING. HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR AN HONEST RATING. BEST OF LUCK. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED.

ONE THING IS FOR SURE, IF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR HAS WATER LEAKING FROM IT, THEN THIS IS NORMAL. THIS CONDENSATION IS CREATED FROM THE DIFFERENCE IN TEMPERATURE FROM OUTSIDE TO INSIDE THE CAR. HOWEVER IF THIS CONDENSATION IS NOT DRIPPING OUTSIDE THE CAR AND BUILDING UP INSIDE THE AIR DUCT, THEN THIS WILL CREATE MOISTURE ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE MAKING THE CARPET WET. THIS CONDITION CAN BE FIXED BY CLEANING OUT THE RUBBER HOSE THAT COMES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DUCT TO THE OUTSIDE, UNDER THE CAR. HOPE THIS CLARIFIES ANY OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE ON A/C. GOOD LUCK. AGAIN, THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. HAVE A GREAT DAY

Dyes you can't usually see unless you take it apart. The easiest way i can think of is to use a leak detector that finds the leak by sniffing. Start the vehicle with a/c on place tip in the interior vent, if there is a leak it will detect it. Can be used to find any leak in the a/c system.

check the fuel filter connections first. If all ok, have a mechanic check it. If there is an evaporative leak, the check engine light should be on.

Water leaking from under the hood

If it is pure water, it is probably condensation from the air conditioner. If it is engine coolent, it could be a slow leak that will take time before it is low enough to overheat. Take note of the color and feel of the fluid. If it is orange or green and oily, it is coolent. If it is water, than it is condensation, unless you only put water in your radiator.

Freon leak under dashboard

The leak is the evaporator which is in the dash. The complete dash has to come out to remove the hvac plenum to remove the evaporator. It is about a 7 to 10 hour job.The factory evap.core is about $475 and what ever the labor rate is for the repair shop.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Slow leak of water under car no antifreeze in it no water inside car what can this be

It is normal for all cars that have an air conditioner. It is the condensation of the water in the passenger compartment air.

Like a house window air conditioner, the water collects on a pan and drips out a tube.
