Factory Remote Starter works sometimes

My 2005 Chevy Malibu Factory remote stater sometimes won't start car. I turned off remote start and turned it back on settings are in the factory radio. Sitting in the car press remote to start car blower turns on but does not crank to start and blowers stays on? does anyone have any Idea what may cause this. My remote does work but not always. I changed batteries in remote and also tried my spare remote same issue.

Could be an engine or data problem.. If the check engine light ever came on, the computer is locking out the remote start. This is to prevent the car from running unattended that may have a problem. Have the compute scanned first or any codes, correct the problem and the remote start problem may go away.

SOURCE: key fob remote start issues

You need to get one that works on the same wide range frequency as the reciever in the car, and then it's a simple matter of opening both the new and old fobs, and matching the fine frequency settings by putting the little switches inside where they should be according to the old fob's switches. If there are no switches in the old fob, it's preset and there's not much you can do about it.

SOURCE: Factory remote start on 2004 Malibu Maxx stopped working

Fixed!!! I had several problems with my wife's remote start/lock/unlock/trunk/ panic. First it stopped working, i replaced the battery to find out that the battery holder inside the remote had broken solder at two points. Went to Harbor Freight bought a solder gun for $5 and solder wire for about $2. Once home i soldered the points back together (first time i've ever soldered anything). Put the new battery in and it didn't work. I pulled the whole thing apart and took the circuit board and touched the contacts where the button would have pushed at with a piece of metal. They locked and unlocked the car. So i knew at that point that the rubber thing was jacked. i got some tin foil and 5minute epoxy. Then i clued little tiny squares on the little black Nipples where they would contact the circuit board. Waited 6 minutes and put back together. Found out that if you start the car twice with out puting the key in the ignition you can't use the remote start. After putting the key in the ignition and starting it you reset the system and can remote start again. Dealer wanted 114 for the key remote and 54 to reprogram the remote to the car. I fixed my factory remote for under $20. Hope this helps someone

Where is the factory remote starter located on a 2005 Chevy Uplander?

factory remote starter???? Your vehicle has remote start , doesn't work ? Does the vehicle start with the key ? Remote start is a function of a control module - BCM - body control module more then likely . Unless your vehicle has after market remote start . Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop . The vehicle has a regular starter mounted on the engine ,remote starter is software programmed into the computers on the vehicle . Circuit/System Description
Remote vehicle start (RVS) begins as an RF message received by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) from a keyless entry transmitter. The RVS request is sent by the RCDLR to the body control module (BCM) via serial data. The BCM monitors system conditions such as content theft deterrent (CTD), hood ajar status, and body DTCs to determine if an RVS even will occur. If conditions are determined to be acceptable, the RVS message is sent to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM monitors system conditions such as engine control parameters and vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) to determine if engine starting will be allowed. If conditions are acceptable, the ECM will initiate engine starting. During the engine run time in a RVS attempt, before the operator enters the vehicle, the ECM may discontinue engine operation if system conditions require it or a message is received from the BCM requesting the engine be turned OFF.

Your best bet ,take it to a GM dealer

Usually with remotes you turn the key for the ignition to the off position, then turn the ignition key eight times without starting it, on the 8th time leave the key on the forward position then push any button on your remote that should fix the remote problem.
