Question about 1993 Toyota Celica

1 Answer

Bad acceleration after driving around for about 5-10 minutes, the car get real sluggish all of sudden when i try to accelerate. Its like the motor is bogging down. Also the rpm gauge doesnt really work right either. I know the car would be at 6krpms or greater but the gauge doesnt read more than 2500. Other than that the car runs fine..doesnt burn oil or go through gas like crazy.I have a 93 celica gt with a 5S-FE and a manual trans.

Your catalytic converter needs to be replaced. It's becoming clogged, and preventing your exhaust from escaping properly.

Check engine light came on while driving, now when you accelerate it makes a loud hissing sound and is sluggish. Can I drive it this way for 200 miles to get it home or is there something serious wron

Is this a Turbo model? If so, it sounds like you have a blown Turbo or a leak somewhere in the turbo system. 200 miles is a long way to go with a bad part, and it's pretty risky. I'd get it checked out by a local mechanic before trying to drive that far.

Sluggish acceleration, frequent jerking and engine knock at high RPM

Sounds to me like the timing is off! it COULD be bad gas though! run that tank through, and refill, then see how it feels!

2004 kia optima. Acceleration sluggish ... suddenly today while driving. Seems to not want to go beyond 20-25 mph Flooring the accelerator seems to take rpm only to 3 k

try unplugging the switch to the mass/map sensor as well as the crank sensor and blowing them both out with break cleaner or an air compressor. thats what i did with my kia rio today and its been running great.

Car gets warm and starts hesitating on acceleration

Hi,
this could be something in the fuel pump. As the cold motor draws more fuel, it may just be just ok for the engine, but after it is warm, it draws less and may "suffocate" it that way. Same goes for air filter, take a peek if it is not ready for replacement. Has this happened suddenly, or has it occurrend during a long perion of time?

no the wheel turning exersize did not do any damage, when u go back 2 the dealer tell them u would like 2 take them 4 a ride so that u can duplicate the trouble for them sometimes this is the only way 2 identify a problem that only occures with you driving

Momentarily Sluggish Acceleration

Are you loosing power to the ecu when the car is shut down? most cars with an ECU that controls timing, fuel, or boost can be forced to relearn the car if the ECU looses power (called a "limp" mode). I'd look into this. Also are you getting any check engine lights? considering the description of the problem, this would help to diagnose. Try getting the car started and running normally, then turn the car off but do not kill the power to the car, just stop the motor from running...Fire the engine back up and try to give the car a good stomp on the gas and see if you get the same sluggish problems...my 2 cents... Good luck future auto DIY's

1992 Chevy S10 2.5L 4 Cylindar very sluggish to accelerate

Hi
Check engine codes could be map sensor or 02 sensor.
Check for vacuum leak at map sensor, causes high fuel consumption.
