Water leaking from behind a pully on the block. how or what can i do?

While driving the car started to make a knocking sound an when i pulled in the clutch to stop for a light yhe car died on me. it did that a few times i stoped an looked but the only thing i seen was that i was a little low on my oil but not enough to make the car knock. well on my way home it just died an wouldnt start. pushed it to the side of the road an checked all my gauges cause it started to smell hot but my gauges didnt read hot or anything. oil light was off an so forth. checked the water an it was bone dry. put antifreez in an it all just leaked right back out from the front of the block from one of the pullys. what do i do?

The knocking sound is concerning. The coolant is most likely leaking from a bad water pump. Take a look at your oil dipstick, look for coolant, or a white mucky substance on it.

The pully that the coolant is leaking out from sounds like your water pump. with no coolant in the system the temperature gage wont read the correct temperature. replace the water pump and pray that the engine didn't overheat, as to do permanent damage.

Where is the water pump on a Grand am pontiac 1993

should be behind the timing casing on the front of of the engine block or possibly behind the third belt pully but they changed them on most year models try looking around behind the alternator near to where the pully joins the belt going to the engine block

Waterleak nopressure in hose loud knocking at top of engin

That doesn't sound good. It appears you have 1 of 2 issues. The no coolant is a bad/blown head gasket or cracked engine block. When the head gasket is bad or block is cracked the coolant leaks into the cylinder blows out the exhaust (have you noticed the smell of coolant or white smoke in the exhaust) then runs by the pistons and into the oil pan (check your oil level it is probably way high) where it mixes with your oil and reduces its viscosity/lubrication. After prolonged driving with coolant/water in the motor your bearing will wear prematurly and cause parts to become looser then they are (hense the knocking sound). If you continue driving with the knock the motor will have a mechanical breakdown and more then likely throw a rod. THis is usually a motor swap at this point. Some mechanics will replace the bearings but either or you will nee extensive work to correct. The head gaskets need to be replaced/checked and the head for warpage/seepage and possibly a cracked block plus fixing the damage to the lower end. Its usually cheaper to purchase a new/used motor as this is somehting that will cost $1000's of dollars so please pick a reputable mechanic for this kind of work... If you have an extended warranty this is the time to use it..

Overheated engine, water leaking from engine area and tail pipe

It is possible that yoiu crack the engine block. You should be able to see where the water is coming from the engine area, possibly ruined the head gasket only

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...

Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck

Rod knock, water pump leak, clicks but wont turn over

A noisy water pump will eventually cause problems. Before it shattes insde the cooling system, causes overheatinig,& other problems, get rid of it.It may have to do with the "no start" but as for the slow windows and other issues that sounds like battery or ignition. One step at a time.
