Question about 1997 Audi A4
It is your multi-function switch. Cost me about 490.00 to replace it. It is basically a sensor under the car that tells the transmission what to do. It is prone to getting wet and shorting out. Mine went bad while at the tire shop, I thought the idiots ruined my car somehow, but talked to other people online and figured it out. If your car drives forward fine, this is the problem- it is designed to do this to protect the engine and transmission.
