Question about 1998 Isuzu Trooper

Anti theft system problem

My son in law had been driving his 98 Trooper with a non factory key (no chip) I don't know how it even ran at all,.................but it ran bad, stalled all the time, and now will not crank at all (I'm told it is in theft mode) Now even with the correct key, it will not start. How do I reset the computer, or reset the alarm system? I'm told there is a valet switch (button) to bypass the system, but I'm unable to find it. Can anyone tell me the location of the switch, and what it looks like? Please.

Disable anti-theft system 98 ford explorer

Hello,

The key has the chip for the anti-theft--may not be the anti-theft.
TDC/Firing Order/fuel/spark/compression/timing chain alignment (dots)
TPS (Throttle position sensor) - Bypass by holding gas pedal down and starting.

Hope this helps--

2002. Why is anti-theft light on, preventing it from starting?

The most common cause is the chip in the key does not match the security code, or the security module has failed. The chip in the key must match the factory setting to allow the car to start.
If it worked before you replaced the lock cylinder, you need to have a new key with the same old chip cut to the new lock.

No crank; no turn over for my 2006 kia sedona. Suspect anti-theft alarm/starter tampering or fuse removal from ex-boyfriend. How do I know? Can't drive it to mechanic :(

When the anti theft system was created, the dealers forgot to tell the new car buyers about how much the fob matters to the vehicle, without it,owners are stuck, your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.if you lost your fob or never had it,whatever, you need to have the exact fob that came with that car from the factory, the key and fob have a chip in them that only go to that certain car,if you do not have it,then you need to buy a new one from the dealer or ebay and then you need to contact your dealer about programming the fob to your car,you might not have to have it towed if they have the documents from the car,the only other way is to get a junk car, with the steering column, key, fob and all computer boxes and door locks and switch them,i just did that with a 98 dodge dakota, and it works.

Engine turns but does not start, seems like no spark to cylinders.

Your chipped key is not making a good connection to your factory installed anti-theft device. Lightly grease both sides of car key with electric bulb grease and work it into key ignition. Over time the key wears down, contacts in ignition switch become worn and corroded. Grease makes better contact...chipped key is able to send signal to factory anti-theft device which unlocks all systems required to start you engine. Make sure the key you are using is a chipped key for your car; not a un-chipped cut key from the key cutting machine. It will work on locks, but only a chipped key for your car will deactivate your anti-thief and you get power to your engine and systems to get it started.

Im putting a new computer in my 98 cadillac eldorado etc is there a way i can bypass the passlock system so i can drive the car to the dealership instead of having it towed

Yes there is your alarm system only disable starter,There is a chip on the key, If you know the resistance of the chip you can just put a resistor in place, If not jujmp the starter, with key on in park E-brake on someone there making sure you dont get ran over if the car ever started in gear,Now if the anti theft is one of the top line type find the relay put a toothpick in there to keep the relay switch close and off you go

Is the anti-theft deterrant system the same system as the engine immobiliser or are they completely different?

Hello Jaclyn... Your Camry has an "engine immobilizer" designed to prevent "hot-wire" starting incorporated into the anti-theft system...This was standard on the XLE, & an available option on the LE. When the battery cable came off the immobilizer lost it's memory & is not reckoning the chip in the key. Try locking and closing all the doors. Then unlock the drivers door with the key. Repeat this several times, also tap the brake & gas pedal. If this does not help the dealer will have to reset it by the vehicles VIN number.
I hope this information is helpful.

98 CHEVY TAHOE WILL ONLY CRANK AND THIN DIE

This truck is equipted with a P.A.T.S Anti-theft system from the factory. you notice the little black "chip" at the end of the key.
This chip has to be programed with the code that is in your ecm.
your local dealership can do this. Uses of a non-coded key will eventually not start the truck. When this happens put the key in and turn the ignition on and leave the door open after 15 to 20 minutes the truck should start. The best way to avoid this is to have the dealership make the keys to the vin number of the vehicle.
Hopes this helpes.

Car starts then stalls due to the anti theft system need info on reset

you should be able to use the key to unlock the driver door or the back hatch and that should disable the anti theft.
