They drain inbetween the bulkhead of your car. no access is available to get to that. if the evaporator case is totally removed you can run a new hose for it although they are usually short in most cases for the bulkhead is totally sealed watertight

The evaporater case is in two parts at least and the seal is broken or fell apart so the case will have to come apart to get resealed. The drain hose is always mounted far enough away from the firewall so thats not the problem

How to locate a thermostat for a 94 eclipse

You didn't say which engine, but if you have the 3.0 L engine then the thermostat is in a bulb looking connection where a water hose comes up from below to the front of the engine.

Just remove the bulb-like tharmostat holder from the engine. You don't have to remove the hose.

I'll check the other engine.

Floor board is wet noticed water around the box thats under the dashboard in the middle between driver and passanger

If it smells like engine coolant, kind of sweet but stinky its your heater core. If it doesnt and it's just wet, the drain for the evaporator (the a/c) is clogged.

Trouble with water on floor.

My '01 Eclipse Spyder does the same thing and I have been struggling with this problem for the past year. I even took it to a mechanic who supposedly blew out the debris and said it should work okay now. Not.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin for this problem and the dealer and any mechanic that has access to the TSBs should know about it. The bulletin is TSB-04-55-008. I am lucky enough to know someone who works for AllData and he faxed me the TSB.

It basically says that all debris needs to be cleaned from the tube and the evaporator housing, a portion of the housing top needs to be removed and then an add-on filter needs to be installed. The part number for 2000 to 2004 Eclipse is MR500360 and there is a screw set that is also needed MB409435. I haven't done it yet, so I'm not sure how difficult it actually is, but I will forward the pdf to anyone who wants it.

A/C drainage issue

Hi Jay!

The problem is condensation on the evaporator coil not being caught and drained to the outside. There is a catch-pan under the evaporator coil where condensate should collect, and from that catch pan there is a drain hose leading to underneath the floor pan where it should then drain to the ground.

If that hose has become disconnected, clogged, cracked or pulled from it's exit hole, that water will collect on your floor and cause the problem you have described.

I'd be disappointed in a mechanic who could not solve such a simple and common problem... and I'd be looking for a new one!!!

Hope this sheds some light on the issue and helps you get it resolved. Do not hesitate to ask if you have further questions or to post comments, let us know how it goes, and please be so kind as to rate my advice....

Thanks and good luck!
