Am I supposed to hit 1 and 6 and the power button at the same time? B/c after I do that it leaves a blank for the code, it's just that apparently the code i have from the dealer (and used it before just don't remember how) is too long or something? Don't know what to do next.?

If your radio is showing ERR instead of asking for the code you need to take your battery cable off for a few minutes and let the radio reset itself.  After you attach the cables back, the radio will ask for the code and you will just put it back in with the numbers that you use for your preset radio stations.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

I have an acura that is basically the same thing as your honda and I only had to put the code in a couple of times and I did it exactly like I told you before.  The code that I have is 5 digits long.  I would assume since you have the same radio as me that it would be the same thing.  I don't know anything about hitting the 1 and 6 along with the power button.  What are you doing that for?

Hi,

If i understood, you wanted to unlock the radio?

If yes, you could go to the below link and get the code ' without any charge '. Honda does allow all customer to retrieve the unlock code online or by calling them without any charge. You don't have to search and dealer and get the code. You need to follow the below link unless call them on their number mentioned in the link and they would be able to tell you the code over the phone :-

https://radio-navicode.honda.com/

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Need code for 97 Honda radio.

I went through this years ago myself. Try the method detailed below, but most likely you will have to pull out the radio for your year model.

BTW, You can get the instructions to remove the radio yourself. You can Google around online or get a Hayes or Chilton manual. Some libraries even have these for older vehicles or you could buy one for less than $20. I've done it. Also, check out the following.

Radio code for 94 honda delsol

The Unlock Code and the device unit's serial number are listed on the anti-theft ID card that comes with the vehicle. The card is usually placed in the glove box at the time of delivery. Use the Unlock Code listed on this card. For certain models, the dealer may have placed a label with the device serial number on the glove box. eb235a0.jpg ----------------- If you cant find it, you need 3 things

1. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

2. Phone Number and Zip Code Information
  • For security purposes, we(HONDA) verify ownership by comparing the phone number, zip code, and VIN you enter with those we have on file. Unless you have updated these values through Customer Services, the phone number and zip code will be those on file at the time the vehicle was purchased.
3. Device Serial Number
  • you need the radio's serial number. since it is located on the back of the radio. your gonna need the pull the radio to get it.

Then CLICK HERE and enter the information for automated code retrieval.
