Question about Ford Ranger

Car would spit and sputter after driving it for 5 or 10 miles then quit. It would restrt after sitting for about 10 minutes. It gets spark and when I spray either it will start and run. Now power to the fuel pump at all. Relay has been replaced. 1993 Ranger

    1. There is no distributor

    2. There is spark to all cylinders and plugs look fine. They were changed first during this diagnostic process.

    3. There is only 1 fuel pump listed for this year model Ranger. na di cannot find a second inline pump anywhere.

    4. The relay has been replaced.

    5. There is no power to the in-tank pump at any time.

    6. The truck will start and run fine as long as there is afuel sorce injected into the throttle body.

    Try again or give me a clue where the in-line fuel pump might be.

Check your fuel pump. What happens is after running for a few minutes the fuel pump heats up and pushes out the less than required volume of fuel needed. Once cooled down it works fine until it warms back up again. This is a sign of a fast failing fuel pump and should be replaced as soon as possible. Remember that fuel in the tank also cools the pump so the more fuel the longer it will stay cooled. Could be caused by a bad ground as well.

This is due to bad sprak plugs, bad ditrubutor cap. Check these things first.. Make sure you getting spark in all cyln. Also replace the spark plugs.

Fuel pump = there are two fuel pumps make sure there both getting charge. One is in gas tank and other in the engine compartment.

Sputtering/ chugging while driving

Disconnecting the battery could reset codes and/or sensor readings in the engine computer.
Is the check engine light on, and have you checked the computer for trouble codes ? Is fuel pressure normal ?

My 2007 Impala 3.9l has bad issue. On cold start if you try to drive it has no power, spits and sputters and the rpm gauge quits working, warmed up for 10 minutes car runs fine

Going with power lose. Check the grounds. Main three are from the battery to engine, battery to body, and engine to body. I wold check for codes, even if the light is not on. There could be some pending.

Engine sputters when accelerating

The flashing light means the problem is serious enough to cause damage to the catalytic converter. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed. And get the plugs replaced.

I have a 96 plymouth breeze when i go down road it spit and sputters losses power i try to gas it and i get nothing ill let it sit for awhile and it will go again it has a 2.0 and 150,000 miles

change the fuel filter. its most likely clogged and starving the car and while it sits it gives itself time to reaccumulate the proper fuel.

Check engine light is on and now the truck is spitting and sput

i would take it back. they should cover it. sounds like mass air flow sensor. if it was barelly detailed it water might of seeped into the intake thus sucking small amount of water which then causes sputtering and a little lack of power.

Car spits and sputters and stalls after driving a while

sounds like a fuel pump problem,with fuel pumps u can have pressure but not enough volume,try goin up a steeper hill in 2nd gear and get about 3000 rpms on the engine and see if it really drops out bad and is really gutless,if that happens without a check engine light coming on it might be yur pump and u should also replace the fuel filter at the same time,hope this helps

After driving about 3 to 5 mile when there has been alot of rain the engine starts running real rough spitting and sputtering--if you floor it it takes off as long as you keep it floored--doesn`t stall...

Engine light could be from the spitting and sputtering, sounds to me like maybe bad spark plug wires, possible an ecm issue, what kinda code is it giving you when the engine light comes on?
