The filter element is actually below the box that says air filter element. You remove it from air intake and disconnect from frame and element case. The element is in a black box behind drivers side headlight, facing sideways. Its a pain, but working on this particular engine is rough. They designed it to be worked on at a shop with specialized tools. Average wrenches and sockets don't have enough room to turn! Since this element is hard to replace, you'll notice a marked improvement after changing this bad boy/

Can not find the cabin filter on my 1994 Dodge Caravan--it is not under the glove compartment? van smells bad when air conditioner/heater is on- you suggested to clean the cabin filter but no one seems to...

I've had Caravans for many years and never had that problem however, if there is a cabin filter in the vehicle it is inside the air exchange box and you will have to open it to find the filter. Most likely in the top.

There is an air box with 2 hoses one going to the intake and one underneath going to another airbox, loosen the clamps and pop off the hose to the lower airbox and remove the 2 10mm bolts holding the top one to the radiator support. There are 2 clips holding the lower box lid in place pop them open rotate the lid toward the rad and remove the old filter and replace it with the new one. The assembly is reversing the order to take it apart I had trouble with this the first time I did it also.

2000 Dodge Caravan air conditioner problems

heating and cooling fans are generally one and the same. changing freon doesn't always fix the problem... did you have the system pressure checked for leaks first.

Second determine if the vents are opening properly (switching from heat to cooling) basically when you change to cool it closes air access to the heater core.
