Ford : back the truck up 10ft put truck in neutral and disengage four wheel low. (You can't drive in four wheel low cause its a pulling gear and you won't do over 3-5 mph.)
Nissan: start truck see if it idles normal. If so rev motor and check throttle for sticking and check EGR valve make sure its not stuck open or malfunctioning when you drive it..

Change your transmission fluid, sounds like varnish has built up and keeping the valve body from operating properly or the clutch housing from moving freely. Word of caution - after you change the transmission oil it could very well have enough sludge build up to stop the new filter up very quickly. After you change it make a short drive and if you experience any signs of it beginning to stop pulling stop it immediately and change the filter again. By it sitting it probably has formed a high amount of varnish in the transmission and will stop the filter up quickly and will also cause it to hold the gears longer. I burnt a transmission out of a Grand Marquis without realizing my new filter was stopping up, it had been sitting for an extended period of time also. Now it's something else, maybe washing machines?

I have a Series 2 commodore SSV Ute, I'm not sure about the other gears but in first gear when I reach 5500 RPM the engine cuts out. That's the only way to describe it. It's like turning the motor off

most likely an rpm limiter sensor that prevents you from blowing the motor
moving from 1st to 2nd or any gear should be done at no more than 4000 rpms as the engine is outside the torque range and is just a waste of fuel

How do you change a first-second gear solenoid on a 95 ford windstar transmission? When shifting from 1st to 2nd the van jerks and makes a loud clunk and revs up to 4000 to 5000 rpms before shifting

ITS NOT A SOLENOID THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM THERE IS A CLUTCH PISTON THAT IS BAD THEY MADE THEM OUT OF ALUMINUM AND WOULG CRACK THE NEW REPACEMENT IS MADE OUT OF STEEL

94 Bronco Tranny issues. Shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, drove it in the morning and all was fine.. drove it in the afternoon and the tranny was acting up with the speedometer working occassionally. What to...

As easy as it sounds, if you haven't done it already, just check your transmission fluid level. A low level will cause hard shifts, and sometimes some slippage in the transmission. The difference in the 2 trips could be just how hot the transmission fluid gets during the type of driving you do.

Chirping when @3500 to 4000 rpms, 2000 taurus

3500 rpms is about 80 mph. Is this noise in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear? Is check engine light on?
Chirping could be accessory belt noise. Spray them one at a time with belt dresing to see if it goes away and which belt is doing it.

Transmission will not shift out of 1st gear.

Check your transmission fluid level. If the filter has never been changed, now is a good time to replace the fluid and filter.
