Take the nut off and take a pickle fork to it, or an an air hammer with a fork attached to it and just keep hitting until it pops out.

1994 GMC Jimmy. I replaced the upper ball joints and the sway bar - for 2 days the car didnt squeak. Now it is louder than before. Whats next?

Did you lube the sway bar mounting pads? If these are urethane, they will squeak like crazy without silicone lube.

How do you replace a upper ball joint assembly on a 2000 gmc jimmy

You would need to take the suspension apart carefully because the spring/torsion bar has tension on it. The factory upper ball joints are riveted so you will need something to cut the rivets off. The aftermarket joints simply just bolt in.

How to replace uper lower control arm bushings in a 2001 gmc jimmy

The control arm must be removed from the vehicle. Then the control arm bushings are pressed in and out with a ball joint press.
Another option is to take the control arm in and have the bushings pressed for you.

Is there an easy way to get the new lower ball joint to go in straight? I keep getting mine to start straight but then it goes crooked about a third of the way in. This is on a 2000 Jimmy 2wd

Try popping off the outer tie rod end from the hub. That will allow the spindle more in and out movement and make it a little easier to get the ball joint in.

Replacing lower ball joint-GMC JImmy

is this a 4 wd drive unit or 2wd unit? are you mechanically inclined and have basic common tools including a jack and jackstands? if you live close to pep-boys auto center then you can take it there you will spend about 200-300 to do the job, just ask them for a qoute first and that hopefully is still free. they have a special coupon on there wbsite right now that will save you some money, plus if you are over 55 or student in school you can also save money there. i was a service manager there for a while... let me know what you want to do they are not super hard to do but can give you a headache if you dont have a grinder or chisel. i can walk you through it though if you still wish, im all for the do it yourselfer.
