Backfiring and missing

I have a simplicity legacy 25hp kohler when blowing snow this morning it was running fine. about 40mins into blowing it started missing and backfiring. Pulled into the garage checked fuel fitler plugs which looked lean and oil. Added some dry gas to the tank started up and let run for about 5 mins. Pulled outside and started PTO and ran fine. Started blowing snow and only was able to blow for about 3 mins and it started missing and backfiring again. Not sure what i need to look at next.

Possible couple of things
low battery voltage by the system not charging enough
overheating component in the ignition system--coil failing when hot
engine overheating- no air flow around head and cylinder fins from dirt and rubbish

The heater just quit working. It worked fine yesterday but this morning it does not. The car is running a little hotter trhan normal but not overheating. Any ideas?

I would check to make sure the radiator is full and the overflow tank is filled to the proper level. It doesn't have to be very low for these cars to stop blowing heat.

Engine misfire, only when it snows

Have you or the dealers checked the plug wires? Often when there is high humidty weak plug wires can cause the engine to miss and this is difficult to diagnose in a shop environment. Modern ignition systems have very high voltage and also worn plugs can cause the voltage to spike. This would let the weak plug wires lose the voltage and cause the engine to miss.
