Question about 1998 Audi A4
I dont know what the button in the middle of the 2 doors is, its in side with a picture of a car and also lights up, it only comes on when the front doors are open?
The red button you are describing turns off the interior motion detector when you arm your anti-theft system. For example if you were to leave a pet in the car, it would turn off the interior motion detector. I don't recommend that you leave a pet in the car in hot weather or cold. But that is the function of that button. Also if you were to stay in the car and arm the anti-theft alarm it would keep you from setting off the detector that monitors motion inside the car. I don't know why you would want to arm the anti-theft alarm when you are inside the car, but you could if you wanted to. The next time you lock or unlock the car the interior motion detector will automatically be reactivated. Each time I use the remote to lock all the doors the alarm system is activated. I am not an expert, I have only had my 1998 Audi a4 2.8 for a week, so I am just learning about the car. Hope this helps. Vidar

The buttom is for your alarm. It make it less thoucy. Just say u left your dog in the car and didnt want it to go off by the motion, All you have to do is press it in one time and get out and lock it. Once you ulock it to get back in, it will go back to normal.
